help, we'll put our heads together...
my kids have been bugging me. They want an old fashioned popcorn maker and a cotton candy maker. A popcorn popper like the movie theaters/carnivals have. And a cotton candy maker...any form they can get it.
I have looked at ebay, froogle, half.com, bidville, shopgoodwill.com.....
freecycle and local for sale/batrter groups too, newspaper and thrifty nickel...
any other suggestions?~~ Missy ~~

i don't mean that they are bugging me in a bad way, they have been carefully saving up their pennies and change, have asked me to help them. But for our budget i haven't been able to find ones like they want (obviously not a huge piece of equipment). I didn't mean to sound like they were being pusy or nasty about it. I thought i would give a go at looking for the items since birthdays are comming up, would be something that we could use as a instead of cake thing. Is just an idea...

If I had saved the wheelbarrow full of catalogues I got at Christmas, I could have pointed you in the right direction! I know the "old fashioned" popcorn makers can be pricey, but I've seen some table top cotton versions in catalogues for $30 or so. I'm thinking it might have been a business called Betty's Attic. Probably on the web.

DH received one like this:
http://www.onlinesports.com/pages/I,RSA-RNF700-894.html
only his has the Bengals logo. I don't know where my sister found it, but when I did a quick search online for "NFL popcorn popper" I found this link. It's the size to make one bowl of popcorn at a time-- small tabletop version.
Here's another: http://www.nextag.com/buyer/productm...oduct=82876022
Both are around $40, which seems pricey to me. Maybe these links will lead you to something useful, though.

I just noticed that I typed "cotton versions," which probably made no sense. I was going back and forth between popcorn and cotton candy! If you didn't find the site, it is www.bettysattic.com. They have a tabletop popcorn maker for $28, but it looks like it is just an airpopper disguised to look like an oil popper. I'll check what I have when I get home. I know I've seen the real ones, as well as the cotton-candy makers.
You might also check to see if there is a Craig's List in your area and post what you are looking for (and why) there. I've had very good luck with them in the past.
There are also a lot of cool (but not necessarily frugal) carnival type things at: http://greatgiftablesgalore.comDH aka Mad Hen

At Christmas time they had them both in all the stores.
My sister got the popcorn popper at KMart $25.00
I saw the cotton candy makers at Wal Mart. You might be able to find then there ( not sure the price )

LOL, was looking at ebay and I found those hotdog roller steamer things, and the nacho stations. I could have my own little conscession stand going here in the house. All I need is a soda machine and I would be in business, lol.

They are smart kiddos for saving their money for a goal. You can tell that they have a smart Mommy teaching them.
. I hope you find what you are looking for and that it is a great price.
