Help me decide....
Money is getting exceedling scarce again......the loan money is running out.........
but I want to spend money on something frivolous!
My Dd's fiddling teacher is part of a fiddling quartet (4 sisters) and they play Celtic music. They don't get together to often anymore because the sisters are scattered across the country. But they are playing together on March 18 the day before my Bd. Tickets are 15$ each. I want to buy a ticket for myself, my Dh and my youngest Dd because it is her teacher(not the older two....to save money) as a Bd present for myself. I know their won't be any other gifts or celebration of anykind and I would really enjoy this.
But whenever I just about bring myself to order the tickets.....I stop myself and think....I shouldn't be spending so much money on something that isn't necessary......
and then I start thinking how much I would love to go and then.......
Well I know it seems silly but it is driving me crazy.
$45 is so much money right now. But I would love to go.
Tell me what to do!

Sometimes it is very important to take time to smell the roses. Go for it, buy the tickets and enjoy the concert. No point of being frugal if we can't enjoy some of the little luxeries of life.

I say that you should be able to enjoy things in life. If this is what will make you happy, then go for it. Your BD only comes around once a year.

I would say go for it! We all deserve something special once in a while and you know that your BD only comes once a year so I say do it if it's gonna make you happy!

I don't think it's terribly extravagant, myself. I would buy the tickets, do everything else you can to make it a frugal event and just enjoy the dickens out of it.

Just my opinion, but I think everyone should enjoy something special for their birthday. I say go, enjoy and have fun.

You are going to have lots of bills- scarce times, etc. It just isn't going to go away. But the fiddlers will.
So buy the tickets, enjoy yourself with DH and dd for your birthday celebration. Make a happy memory.

I vote, yes, also. That is not too extravagant for a birthday. Enjoy! Enjoy!

Looks like you are going to the concert if we have any say in the matter.
Hope you do and have a lovely toe tapping time

Holly,
You have done so great getting through the last few months.
Go for it. Like they say make a memory and be frugal somewhere else.
You need to relax and enjoy a nice time with your DH and DD.
Have fun and don't worry

Well, I am going to have to say that you probably shouldn't buy the tickets. If I remember correctly, things are very very tight right now right? $45 could be a weeks worth of groceries for your family. When I have been in this boat before, in the end I have either a) regretted spending the money or b) been really glad that I didn't spend the money. Is there any family that you could ask this as a gift for your birthday? Or maybe just you and your dd go and not your dh too? That would only be $30. Good luck with your decision!

Awwww, Jennifer! I already bought the tickets!
You are right about things being tight beyond tight! We are living on student loans and the money is disappearing rapidly.......I am stretching it by doing some part time work but only what fits in with homeschooling and activities.....and yes we are having a hard time.......and you are probably right I may end up regretting buying the tickets.....
Shucks, I am feeling guilty, already!
