50 Thousand a Year
Well, as an update on my employment situation:
The branch managers of Liberty Bank, where I interviewed, called and had a few questions about my application, but since ds was crying, they are going to call me back later on today.
Then, no sooner did I get off the phone with them, MPRI called me. MPRI hires former military personnel and places them in civilian jobs working for the Army. Since I was a National Guard recruiter, I had applied to be a civilian recruiter for the Army/Army Reserves.
Without ever having met me, these people offered me a job with a contract to work for them for 10 years, starting out at 50 thousand a year, full coverage health/dental (dh and I have that already due to his military job), a government car, 401 K, everything.
I had to tell them no.
It would have required me going to a 7 week school in Ft Jackson,SC. They would have paid my hotel, my rental car, my food, everything, but I just can't leave ds for that long, this soon.
I told the lady that and the good news is that she understands completely and told me to call whenever I am ready, that they will have a job for me.
This is where my insecurities come in. I know that I did the right thing, well my heart knows this. My brain does not and the two are having an internal battle.
Please reassure me!

As long as it's right in your heart, it doesn't matter what your head says.
Besides it's not as though you can't have a job whenever you're ready, kwim?
Nice going

The fact that you have chance at this job later sounds wonderful to me, your decision seems wise to me. Your baby is so young. He's worth more than $50K.
I hope you find a job that suits you and your needs right now.

i agree, right now with such a new baby, you did the right thing.
if your child was older and you could work out who was watching him, then i'd say go for the 50,000/yr.
right now the moments and memories you'll make with your baby are worth more.wife to carl

At least you know the job will be there
When you are ready, that is worth gold.

I am sorry, I didn't mean anything bad with what I said, I wasn't sure how old your DS was that's what I asked.
If he's still a baby, I would wait as well, according to your post she said to give a call when your ready. That's awesome, now you have something you can always fall back on and look forward to.

AHHHHHHHHHHH GUESS WHAT?
The branch manager from Liberty Bank just called me back. She told me I was there top canidate, they just had one question about my flexibility. There would be two days a week I would need to work from 10-6 and they wanted to make sure that was not a problem. I said no it wouldn't be, I just needed to know in advance so that my dh could pick up ds from daycare. They said it would be a set schedule so was that okay? I told them it was definately okay. They made me a formal offer of a fulltime teller position, working 40 hours a week, making 11.00 an hour and getting health, dental, 401K once I turn 21 etc. I told them I would let them know tomorrow, but I am definately taking it!
In the interview when they asked about my salary I told them I needed to make in between 10-12 an hour, and they offered 11.
I'm freaking estatic.
YAYAYAYAYAY!
