Apt Rent vs. DayCare costs
So, as you may know I got a job! So the next thing on my agenda was to find a reputable daycare for ds. I did my research and found a daycare that has been open longer than I've been alive, no DHS complaints, no BBB complaints, teachers have been there forever, etc. Only problem was it would cost 212 a WEEK. THAT's 848 a MONTH. My rent is only 660.50 a month. Isn't that crazy? However, with daycare you pay for quality. DH suggested renting ds his own apartment and paying an illegal immigrant to take care of him......
I vetoed this. Silly man, but he tries to be helpful.
But, I went and took the son visiting some military friends and one of the military friends has a wife who is a SAHM and is going to watch my son for...... 400 a month. Woohoo. Frugal Franny strikes again....(insert theme music here)

Thanks for the info - with my first on the way, and I hope to continue working afterwards, this is a subject I'll definetly become more familiar with.
Although our rent is $1030/month - I'm hoping I can find a daycare place for less!Loving wife to DH (8/31/03) and Mommy to Owen Alexander (9/20/06)

That seems so high- but then again, you get what you pay for. I have to say- for the baby's well-being, it is better to have in a home where you can limit sick contacts.
I'm glad things are working out for you.

I agree, daycare costs can be quite expensive, I'm glad you found a sitter within your price range.
Back when I had the 2 boys and was a single mom, I didn't make much money but I got title 20, I only pay $5 a week for both kids to be in a very well known daycare, maybe it's something you can look into. JMO!
