$1000 gone, a lifetime of memories
Well, I went to SC last weekend. I took my 7 year old and we went along with my dad. My grandfather was dying and I wanted to see him again. It had been 5 years since I had seen him and 12 years since I had been to my hometown. It was wonderful to be home again. It was wonderful to see my grandfather. He was flirting with the nurses up until the end, and was so happy we had come. He wanted to die so he could be with my grandmother in heaven. He died this morning. I know he is happier now. Thank you for your advice on whether we should go or not. My ds had a good time, enjoyed sitting around in the evening with my grandfather, my dad and my aunt telling stories about the good old days. That was his favorite part, telling stories. It is something I will cherish forever. It was well worth the money and I know if I had not gone, I would be regretting it right now.

God bless you
“When you get to the end of all the light you know
and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
you will be given something solid to stand on,
or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller
“Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
there are signs that the world is speedily
coming to an end;
bribery and corruption are common; children no
longer obey their parents;
every man wants to write a book and the
end of the world is evidently approaching.”

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

I am sorry for your loss, but glad you have your precious memories. My parents passed 53 days apart 18 years ago and the funniest little things will make me think of them. Memories last a lifetime.

I am so sorry that you have lost your grandfather, but so very glad that you went. So many other people gave the same advice I would have, so I didn't chime in with it, but I think it is really great that you went- you will NEVER regret spenfing the money.
