I don't have a blog and I'm think it's a bad idea
I don't lead an overly exciting life nor would I air my dirty laundry....but it's just not private. I can't believe people are using them like diaries and not considering the consequences of what they're writing.

I'm a myspacer--today's blog was about Munchos (the chips) and my photos include pictures from museums and trips. No drugs, beer, skin, cursing. etc. That's just not me. I have no idea why there are so many blogs that are "too personal" out there. I know that if any employer wanted to see my site, they'd probably be bored out of their minds.

My journal here is a blog of sorts. One of my bosses has a blog. I haven't read it yet, but I'd like to. She might talk about how much she hates me. Just kidding.
When I used to be involved in theater and getting paid acting jobs, I had an online acting resume and some headshots. I took it down a couple of months ago, but you know, if someone that I would like to work for found it and thought I was more serious about acting than the job I was applying for, they might not hire me.
It's strange how things and times have changed so much with the invention of the internet. Wonder what it would be like for our great great grandchildren?
(Here's where I hear in my mind my granny chime in "If the world makes it that long." She's always been rather, uh, armageddon about stuff like computers.)

My sister posted some inflamatory remarks about our family, and at one point the whole town (small town) was reading her blog. She ended up moving it and you have to email her with permission to access it because she didn't like the negative comments left in the guestbook. Since she's not talking to me, I don't have accesss (long story, she has a LOT of issues).
My DH does have his own blog, but he keeps it less personal, and more of his opinion on social and political issues. Right now, mostly every entry is on the Housing Bubble. But he does tend to stay away from - um - "sensitive" issues since he knows that prospective employers might find it (For example, he is pro-gun ownership, but chooses not to mention it).
He did ask me this weekend if I wanted a small section of the page to blog about the baby, and I agreed. I figured it would be an interesting way to chronicle my pregnancy, and even if no one reads it, its still free.
I do believe that you have to be careful what you say online though, because just about anyone can read it. A lot of people don't think about that.Loving wife to DH (8/31/03) and Mommy to Owen Alexander (9/20/06)
