Gas prices?
What will you do if gas prices keep going up?
They were saying this morning it ill hit $4.00 a gallon by summer.

I don't know. We are walking everywhere in town right now. Our gas is $1.03 a litre. We've also cut our trips to the city.
Last night on our CBC nightly news, they were saying that most Canadians have not changed their driving habits along with still buying SUV's or gas guzzling vehicles.
I think until consumers change their driving habits, prices will remain high.

I am really really trying to not drive as much. We do live sort of rurally, and it is spring sports season, so there is driving I can't avoid.
I would like to skip vacation this summer, but dh doesn't agree. I can't imagine what kind of gas budget we will need (12 hr trip)

We'll continue to combine errands as much as possible, but fun stuff like going to the weekly library summer programs will have to be one of the things that go.
I also won't go yard saling unless it is a community wide sale.

Ever since the prices were high last summer, I've been more careful about my driving habits. I do drive an economical car. We also have a Jeep Cherokee so if we're going to take a long trip, then we take the car. Right now we have 3 cars, and I've been driving a Ford Taurus all winter since it has automatic start. Now that its warmed up, I'm going back to my Geo Prism. Dh and I are going to upstate NY for a few days and it will be a 300 mile trip for us. I was planning on taking the larger car, but it looks like we'll be taking the Taurus. So, basically, I'm just trying to keep driving to a minimum.

We are cutting back everywhere we can. Combining rides to school and work. Limiting the driving for our teenage son.
And cutting back in other areas.
My Hubby has a conference in Las Vegas this summer. Yes, it's July! We have opted to drive so that we can visit relatives in Colo. on the way back. He will get some back from the company for the trip and the rooms and food will be free. I don't gamble. Hubby will probably play 20.00 a day. I still think it's a waist!
Other than that we will be at home people.
I've read that prices may get as high as 5.00 gal this summer.

The only place we have to travel to this summer is about 150 miles one way to the MIL's. So, hopefully she'll understand that we won't be visiting much.

I just came back from running a couple errands & filled the tank up. Reg gas was $2.96 a gal.

$2.79 here and we have refineries about 10 miles away! gggrrrr......I am thankful that dh's new job is only 2 miles from our house. We combine errands and the older 3 kids are within walking distance from their jobs. We have only one vehicle - a huge passenger van that seats everyone and it costs about $85 to fill the beast up...we try to make the fillups stretch to only every 2 weeks. I can remember after Katrina, the price hit $3.09 and dh was still working for the other company...which was 12 miles one way - plus, they had him driving all over the place with little mileage compensation...that really hurt....Glad he's working for a different company

We probably won't do to much differently, not many adjustments left we can make. DH and I both changed our driving habits last summer to less aggressive, we will continue to keep up with regular maintainence. We are also going to trade in DH's Chevy Blazer for a Honda Civic (or Civic Hybrid, still debating) but we will do that regardless of what gas prices do this summer.

$2.79 per gallon here. I have condensed all shopping/errands to twice per month. Once each time DH gets a paycheck. This works out really well for us. We have a Jeep Grand Cherokee (purchased years ago) that basically just sits in our garage now except for the errand days I mentioned. DH drives our 97 grand am for his commute to work b/c of the much better gas mileage.

Well I have looked at taking the bus to work. We also are limiting our driving. Soon I will be walking to the grocery store and for other errands
