Default Can I return moldy cheese?

I hope so-- I'm going to try later today.

Yesterday I went to a grocery store that I rarely go to. I picked up a package of shredded cheddar cheese, among other things. When I opened the cheese last night, it had green mold in it! The expiration date is more than a month away, so I don't know what the problem is, but it's gross.

I've never tried to return grocery items before, but I'm taking this back today!

Yes you can! They shouldn't give you a problem.

I would and have. Got moldy cheese from the store that used to be down the street the day we moved into our new house. Took it right back. No wonder it is closed now!

I had that happen before as well. As long as you have your receipt, you shouldn't have a problem.

You sure can. I have had to return grocer items that were not up to standard and never have had a problem.

I'm sure you can - I once returned raspberries that had gone bad within one day. I didn't have any problems returning them

When I was pregnant all I was wanting to eat was cottage cheese, and I got home with some and the seal had not been done properly... Ended up taking it back and doing it again three times, before they looked and realized that the entire batch was bad!!! DH was extremely mad... I have also gotten a brick of cheese, cut it open, and it had black little pebbles in it, and I took it back too... I don't think you will have any troubles, just remember to have your receipt with you....

On a side note, I now check all the cottage cheese I buy and make sure the seal is on good...

Even if you don't have your receipt, I'd try. You do have the 'use by' date on the package. Grocers are usually pretty kind about these things.

Yep, I returned it and got my $$ back without any problem.
They offered to let me get another package, but I was leery of it being from the same batch, so I just asked for the $$ instead.

    Hi Amy,

Hope you took that cheese back for a good one. Most places will make the exchange immediately and quietly. I once took a candy bar into a store. I opened it, it saw that it was going white. I walked back in and said I can't eat this. The guy just took it and gave me another one.
