    Default I'm officially baffled....

We have very nice neighbors. They bought the house next to us about 2 years ago. The first year, they put in a pool, new fence and all new landscaping. I mean...brought in backhoes, tore everything out, and put in huge trees (about 20 of them) and all new sod, etc. The next year they built the shop. It is on a 1000 sq.ft. foundation and is two stories..with skylights and a bathroom. I have never seen them even go into it. It is empty. So today....they are having the house painted. The same color. It is less than 5 years old....they are repainting the shop too. Huh??? The house is huge...probably over 4000 sq ft.....Believe me, it didn't *need* paint. The original owner had it built and used the best quality of everything.
    I'm. Just. Baffled.

Money to burn I guess. lol I guess it's a good thing to have that type of neighbor for your own property value.

Don't complain that they are keeping it up. I would give almost anything for my neighbor just to mow the lawn

We have some neighbors like that. Apparently the DH can't sit still. So he does things around the house. Or thinks of things to have done. Unfortunately he started all this by painting the driveway a pattern of grey squares. Boy howdy did that fluff some dander around the neighborhood at first. Now it is a point of now popular landmark. His latest was a huge swimming pool with a fence.

This sounds like the man we sold our last house to. He just has to be busy! Amazingly, he was only about 34 years old. I flew back to our old city a year after we moved and drove by the house. They were in the yard and invited me in to see the changes. This house was beautiful and only about 8 years old, but new shutters were up, all light fixtures inside and out had been changed, a brand new deck was put up, the basement had been completely remodeled, including a full bath, family room, kitchenette, the interior was completely repainted in new colors, and the next projects were to do block paneling in the formal livingroom to make it a library and build a 4 seasons room off the back of the house. I took photos just to show my DH. I've often wondered if they have moved on just so he can start new projects on a different home.

I would love it if our neighbors took such good care of their property...They had two huge trees come down last winter and still haven't cleaned them up

Be fortunate enough you have neighbors that keep the property in that good of shape. We have a neighbor diagnoally from us and they have about three broken down cars sitting out front. A pile of garbarge to burn and trim and house need painted. Then we have a neighbor like yours that he is always doing something outside. Last year they added an attached two car garage and master bedroom and new deck with landscaping. I saw him on Monday ripping the old drainage ditch out and putting a new one in. (nothing was wrong with it. He just wanted to add a drain at the end of his driveway and wanted it to all be even.
