    Default Grocery store incentives

What sort of incentives do your stores offer for using there discount cards?

I know different stores do different things.

Like a lot of the ones back home in NC kept track of what you would spend around holiday's and you would get free stuff based on the amounts you spent. Others you had to spend so much each week for like 4-6 weeks and you could pretty much get the whole holiday dinner and fixings.

The one I shop at now, (Food City) you get a milk & ice cream vouchers when you buy their brands. When you get 6 of them you get a free gallon of milk or a free gallon of Ice Cream. The ice cream is easy to get as they have theirs BOGO a lot so there is 2 for the price of one.

Currently they are giving out gas bucks to use at there gas stations. For each $25 spent in one trip (excluding meat and produce and a few other things) you get one gas buck, and for every $10 of there private lables you get an additional gas buck. They are doing this thru labor day. You still have to get so much as you can't just use the bucks, but every little bit helps.

Our local Weis does things with if you spend so much you get a percentage discount. Also, if you buy 4 of certain items you would get one free. Never did buy the stuff that they were doing it on.

Our local grocery store (Stop & Shop) usually runs a ham or turkey around Thanksgiving or Christmas, if you spend so much in groceries in a certain time frame (I've never made it. Last year it was $250 in 4 weeks!).

They do have an on-going promotion where if your purchase is over $50, you get a coupon good for $.10 per gallon off their gas prices.

The best incentive was at King Soopers when we lived in CO - if you spent more than $50 in one trip, you got a voucher good for 4 tickets to almost any Colorado Rockies game for $3 each. And you could buy the baseball tickets at the grocery store! I think we saw about 20 games that summer.

Our grocery stores never give any incentives and I like it that way - there's no such thing as a free lunch - you pay one way or another.

The points add up if you get a certain amount it can be $10 in free gas. Sometimes they run in the Ad that if you spend so much you'll get so much off your groceries and during the holidays its usually a free ham or turkey.

both grocery shops I go to have a scheme where for every 10 Euro spent you get a Euro voucher for the store, basically you collect these *points* and every 3 months they send you the vouchers. depending on what you buy they have double or triple points days so the points can quickly add up.

you get about a year to spend the vouchers so I save them all till xmas - last year I had 60 Euros worth to spend in store which was great to buy some kids toys and put towards gifts.

Most of the stores here do an incentive like that - I find it really handy as Its the store I shop at anyway so its nice to get something back

No deals here. We just don't have enough competition. Only two chains, so they can charge what they like.

My local Giant is running a promo this week for a $5 off checkout coupon when you buy $15 worth of Unilever products. That wasn't too hard to do.

About once a year, they run a promo to earn 5% off a future shopping trip when you spend X dollars over a 4-6 week period.

My favorite promotion is the fundraiser for Children's Cancer Foundation. For a $1 donation, you get a scratch off card for a chance to win cash/gift card prizes. Each ticket is a winner for at least a free food item. The charity wins and the consumer wins.

Currently, Kroger is offering for every $100 spent in a calendar month and using your Kroger card to track the amount spent, you will earn .10 cents off per gallon of gas.
