What a Waste!
Okay, I ordered a bunch of toys from Amazon.com the other day from their toy sale. I got $357.00 worth of toys for $50.00. My gift closet is set!
Anyway, they sent each individual item in a different box. I wound up with a gajillion big cardboard boxes with a bazillion plastic air filled bags. I can't imagine how this is cheaper for them (I qualified for free shipping.) and it's terrible for the environment! And, frustrating for me!My Blog: http://amysreallife.wordpress.com

I've heard similar stories from others I know who have purchased toys from Amazon. Personally, I think its a big waste of time and money on their part.

Same here.
I ordered a bit less...only I think 9 items total. One HUGE box came in the first shipment. I was excited thinking I got it all in one box. Nope.
Just a child's backpack.
Another HUGE box a day or so later. Just one toy in it.
Another HUGE box. One toy.
Still waiting on 6 more. I can hardly wait
I think it's because they don't have all the stock in one place. The things that get ordered are sent from various warehouses around the country. One of my packages came from Tennessee. One came from Ohio, one from Texas, and one from..I can't remember where but that's the one that's not here yet.
It's still a waste!

Recycle!
Break down a few boxes for use later and post the rest on freecycle. Lots of folks who sell on ebay will beat a path to your door for free shipping boxes and the baggies with air in them are like gold!! Also folks who are moving and summer is the moving time will also come for your items.

Oh, I love it when things come to me boxed separately. I reuse everything when I sell stuff on ebay. Plus, if things are shipped in smaller boxes, they are less likely to arrive damaged.

Yep. That's the answer. Most items are shipped from separate(sp??) fulfilment houses.

I do what Shopgirl does: reuse the boxes, saves me money when I ship stuff.

We reuse them, recycle them, or give them to other military families who are moving. But it still feels like over kill when you have a box that's 2ft wide by 3 feet long and 1 foot deep to hold a backpack
Sara Ali, it is still going on <a href=http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/browse/-/528156/ref=amb_center-1_181620901_1/103-8084105-3333439>Amazon/Toys R Us Toy $5.29 toy sale</a>
