My Uber weird morning.

So this may not seem all that weird to some of you, but it really freaked me out.

I woke up this morning to the sound of the UPS in the next room beeping- the power was out, and it beeps to let us know so we can turn off/unplug anything plugged in to it to protect it from power surges and whatnot when the backup power runs out and then the real power turns back on. It beeped twice, then stopped, and the nightlight in the room came back on. (I fell asleep in DD's room.)

At this same time, during the inital two beeps, I would SWEAR that I heard DH going downstairs. I don't really remember if I heard the gate at the top of the steps swinging back, but I definitely thought I heard someone going down the stairs. I live in a 110+ year old house, so you can really tell when people are walking around upstairs.

A little while later, DD woke up (maybe 15 minutes?) and wanted to go downstairs, so I took her in to my bedroom first to see what time it was (our alarm clock has a battery back up- hers doesn't.) I was EXTREMELY surprised when I got in there to find DH still in there, sound asleep. He woke up, and I asked him about the power going out. At first, he didn't know what I was talking about, but then he went downstairs to check and said everything was fine. Then he said he DID remember the power going out, and he thought he heard ME going downstairs. I made him search all over the whole house. All the doors were still locked and everything was as it should have been, though the power had definitely gone out.

I even looked under the bed and in the closets in the extra bedrooms. I was freaked out big time.

To make things even weirder, I was having a dream about my aunt when the dream happened, and I NEVER remember my dreams. I mean,, that is a bit of an exaggeration, but only barely- I only remember maybe 5-6 dreams a year. And I have never had a dream about my aunt before. She was very special to me, and she died about 4.5 years ago. My husband joked, "you think she came to visit you?" but I didn't think it was very funny.

I just wish the sun would come out and it would be so grey and creepy today!

Sounds like a forerunner to me. They're not dangerous, they're just signs. Electrical disturbances and sounds like that can often be interpreted as signs. Did your aunt have anything that really stands out in your mind from the dream? A certain color in her dress, or a certain phrase she said?

No, but I remember only a little bit. We were shopping together, and she was sick (ummm, colitis!) with one of the same problems she had in her life.

As to it being an old house, well, it definitely is, but we've never had any weirdness at all before, and we've been here almost 5 years. I just don't know what to think.

I e-mailed my Mom about it to find out if that day was a special day to my Aunt or anything. It wasn't, as far as she could remember, but my mother just said that she wouldn't be surprised if it was just my Aunt letting us know she was still with us. I was thinking about her last week (we sort of drove by her house- we were on the highway, and I always gets a little sad when I realize where we are) and who knows?
