    Default If You Could Receive One Gift...

    Here's my question: Let's say that someone wants to give you a present. It doesn't have to be frugal, it doesn't have to be family oriented, it doesn't have to be cheap, expensive, fancy, simple. My question is, if someone came up to you and offered any (material) thing in the world, what would you choose?

    For me, it'd have to be this: http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.c...1_1895_3569010 The IceBox kitchen computer.

    Anyone else?

    A house. On a few acres of land out a ways from town, but not too far away. Preferably in one or the other of the next two valleys over.
    Owned free and clear.
    “When you get to the end of all the light you know
    and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
    faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
    you will be given something solid to stand on,
    or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller

    “Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
    there are signs that the world is speedily
    coming to an end;
    bribery and corruption are common; children no
    longer obey their parents;
    every man wants to write a book and the
    end of the world is evidently approaching.”
    — From a translation of an inscription on
    an Assyrian clay tablet, circa 2800 B.C.E.

    God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
    courage to change the things I can,
    and the wisdom to know the difference

    I too would say a house with lots of land. Free and clear sounds good to me!

    Well, if I couldn't get them to pay off my mortgage, I'd opt for a nice, safe, brand new vehicle. My station wagon turned 17 this year.

    I'd actually like cash. DH and I would like to do a long distance bike trip across the U.S. after we finish our degrees (him nursing, me accounting).

    If cash isn't an option, I would like a cook. I want someone to cook me yummy gourmet meals (from a variety of different cuisines) all the time. I love cooking, but the meals I like are so cumbersome to make that I am pooped out once I am done.

    Anything towards our retirement. Don't have to add it all at once, just small donations every now and then would be welcomed and very much appreciated.

    Let me see: I would like a small bungaloo with back yard. or
    enough tp pay off truck ( that would be a big help)
    if its not materialistic, it would be grandparent types who would love to spend time with my kids 1 a week for afew hours( that means the world to me)

    I would love to have my kitchen re-done, that's what I would choose.

    I can honestly say that I want for so little that it's hard to think of anything. Getting my house paid off would be the only thing that I could think of.
    I have plenty of clothes, books, kitchen gadgets.
    I want to pay of the house so I can quit my job and be with the kids more often. That would be a gift. Not so much the money, but the time.

    Wow, your DH is taking Nursing?! That's fantastic! It's so rare to see men in nursing, but they are sorely needed. It's very difficult for a 5'2" 125 lb. woman to lift a 6' 180 lb. man. My uncle is an PCW (Personal Care Worker) and the staff at the nursing home he works at absolutely adore him. He's strong and very good at his job (plus he's a handsome guy, so all the older ladies pretend he's their "boyfriend" ).

    It's a computer that was designed specifically for use in the kitchen. Internet access, radio, television, washable moniter and keyboard, baby monitor, stylo and mouse included, etc. It's just my dream -- a computer in the kitchen. I'd never leave!!!

    DH is one of two men in his current nursing class so he does realize he is a minority. In fact one of the reasons he is often appreciated is because he can (as he did last semester) lend a helping hand in lifting a 500 lb man. The older women DH assisted love him because he has a tendency to patiently listen to anyone's ramblings unlike some female nurses.
