    Default Hello All, I'm New Here

    My name is Cynthia, I'm single & live in Los Angeles...one of the harder cities to be frugal in being that rents & home prices are so high. I was searching around & found this forum. My friends all tell me I'm great at saving money & living a frugal lifestyle. Truthfully, I was a bit offended by the constant comments at first because I thought they saw me as a cheapskate & I'm not! But now I realize that I have a skill that they don't have & wish they did. I even have friends borrow money from me who make MORE than I do. Just goes to show that you don't have to make a lot of money to have money saved.

    I love a bargain too. I don't believe in paying full price if you don't have to...& most of the time you don't. And if you work it right, you can get a lot of things for free.

    I actually got into the habit of saving as a kid. I think I was around 6 or 7 years old (I'm in my 40s now.) In grade school we had a Christmas Club. Every week we brought 25 cents (I think) to school & we each had little passbook accounts. At the end of the year, we got $25 that we had to spend on Christmas gifts. ($25 was a lot for a kid back then.) And I've been saving ever since.

    I'm anxious to learn more tips from all you other Frugal Villagers.
