    Arrow Chore lists?

    does anyone make lists up for the day or weekly what they need to do and want done?
    I make uo them for 2 days worth at a time for housework, and try to get most of it done in the same day, so the next day incase I have to go somewheres at the last minute or I need a relax afternoon i can take it and just craft before the kids come home.

    I usually sit down Sunday evening and make up a list of all the things that I need to do and then anything extra I want to do for the week! I try to get the things I need to do done and then I start working on the other stuff once I do finish!

    I occasionally make lists, but they just keep getting added to and added to, they're neverending!

    I find hubbies lists all over the place, poor guy, he's got SO many things on his and for every one he gets done he adds 2-3 more.

    I like to make lists because I like checking things off. It encourages me to keep going. I try not to put too much on my list on any given day, and try to be realistic as to what I can finish.

    I have a master list for each room of the house and yard, too. As I think of things that need to be done, I add them to the master list. Once a week I scan this master list so things won't get lost in the shuffle.

    Yup. I have a Master Chore/To Do List in my notebook then keep a running list either on my dry erase board or on a sticky on the desk top (I love that program!). While I know what I have to do everyday, my family doesn't seem to have a clue about how my time is spent or what I do around here. My daily lists (out in plain sight for all to see) serve as both a way to account for my time (no more "...so did you DO anything today??" comments) and let people know in advance when I've got a busy day and can't (or just won't) fit their latest venture in insanity into my day.

    I've been thinking about a chore list. I'm recently divorced and I just bought a house and moved a couple of weeks ago. Being single with 3 dogs and a cat and working full time, I'm trying to figure out a system to keep my house clean. Does anyone make up a list of what they do on a certain day?? I would like to spread out my cleaning over the week and just a little bit on the weekend, so I have some time to myself!

    Any ideas would be much appreciated!!

    Yes, I have a list and it's divided into 5 "rooms". I am moving tomorrow so I will be redoing it soon.

    Basically I set it up to cover one room per day. I have 2 bedrooms, bathroom, hall, dining room, and kitchen. Dh is responcible for his own room, so that leaves me one room per day. Laundry I do one day a week .. usually on the weekend, but will have to see now that I won't have my own machines. We won't have any outside chores now so I won't need to allow for anything but sweeping the porch.

    My monthlys and seasonal chores are set up the same way.

    I have my list on another site and post it there daily in a thread. It sure helps to have other people working along with you.

    Kim, yes just make up a list of your own !! U know what days are good for u, so eaach day put down what u need to get done, or would like to see done, so that u have the rest of the day to yourself. Break it up to suit your schedule. dishes, laundryt and floors one day, dusting, beddings and garbage the next day.

    Default Chore/Honey To Do List *lol*

    EXAMPLE OF MY LIST

    Note: I try to keep it as minimal as possible to be able to complete these chores. I do these chores in the evenings, after I get home from work and sometimes after dinner. A few everyday chores not listed: dishes and packing the lunches for following day.

    Monday

    ~* generally this is my quiet/low key day b/c I arrived home late the night prior and had to be at work bright and early. I try to relax and keep it quiet *~

    * unpack car from the shopping etc done over the wknd, unpack and sort dirty laundry

    * review budget and make note of this week's bills that need to get paid etc. (Allocate funds for next week's incoming paycheque)

    Tuesday

    * pick up of office area/living room (rooms that I spend most time)

    * sweep floors, empty garbage and recycling and then I take one last run before I start my bedtime routine and grab all the garbage/recycling and take it out to the curb for Wed am pick up

    Wednesday

    * clean bathroom

    * wash causal clothes/towels

    * grocery shop (for my household)

    Thursday

    * wash work clothes

    * wash towels and/or casual clothes (if not done from Wed)

    * clean/tidy out car/pack bag for wknd with clean casual clothes

    * pack simple lunch and mini meal for drive after work

    * empty garbage/recycling so I can come home to a clean house!

    Friday

    After work I head straight to bf's house out of town. Roughly 3 hours one way. Plenty of 'thinking' time there! But its nice knowing my (necessary) chores are done and that its going to be ONLY QT for next 2 days.

    Saturday/Sunday

    * misc errands (that can be done in bf's town) be it picking up things at Home Depot/Walmart/Zellers, banking, post office run, groceries (for his household) etc. Things I can do with the bf

    * do a quick and basic tidy/clean at bf's house to put it back to where I had it the previous weekend

    Thats just a rough guesstimate. Some nights I feel too ambitious and get a weeks chores done in the one night. Sometimes I relax for 2 days instead of doing chores. I just play around with it as needed.

    I also have a list of monthly chores or things that Id like to accomplish - again simple, small, doable things for me so that its achievable.

    EXAPMLE:

    Week #1 - Empty two boxes of office papers and sort, file or shred. Trim hedeges down. Repot 3 plants.

    Week #2 - Research, plan and organize *insert name of an event here* for next week. From getting prices to booking things.

    Week #3 - Refill prescriptions, return library books etc. Host party

    Week # 4 - Sort through closet of clothes and see how much I can give to Goodwill. Empty out closet to use space for other things.

    You catch my drift. For the most part nothing is that urgent for me that it if it doesnt get done someone will be letdown, hurt as a result. All my chores can be shuffled around. I just need to get my lazy butt in gear sometimes.

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks all! I think I'll work on some sort of schedule this weekend and see what I can come up with. Shorty, I like how you have monthly items also. Being a homeowner, I want to make a note to change the furnace filter, when to have the sprinklers blown out/turned on, etc. It's a daunting task, but I'll just start and add on as I go.

    Kim, its hard to plan out and make things go according to plan. But once you start and you shuffle things, you'll get the hang of it. Plus I like to use FAT RED MARKER to cross each completed item off the list

    I know you'll be able to do it!

    I'm not a list maker at all, never use them - not even a grocery list unless I write down some staple tht I have run out of and can't get along without it.
