    Exclamation OM Goodness HUGE SNAKE!

OMG, I was hanging out clothes and all of the sudden the dog went nuts!!! Barking and growling at my feet . So I look down and a HUGE, and I mean HUGE (around 8 feet long) snake was just lying there next to my foot sunning itself on the cement!!!!!!!!! MIND YOU, I had NO shoes on, if I had stepped on it I would have died right there! Anyway, I screamed, I don't know who moved faster me, the snake, or the dog!!!!!

    OMG.

I'm gonna have a cup of coffee and try to calm down now! Of course DH isn't home!

Kim - I gave them directions back to your house!

    Just kidding!

They can stay, as long as they move away while I'm coming outside!

Give that dog a steak!! LOL. Good dog, good dog! I still have the heebie jeebies! So glad you didn't get bit. I almost grabbed one once reaching for my hose. course mine was just a bitty little garden snake. Nothing anywhere as big as yours. If you could see my arms...the hairs are all standing up with the willies from your thread!!

    glad you didn't get hurt.

So, I just came in from outside again, and I think that the snake has had babies! There was a teeny tiny one on the patio (dead now). How many babies does a snake have at one time anyway? I think the snake lives in a bush in the back yard. Good thing is - it's a black snake, and it will keep the rattle snakes away!

That's enough of living life on the edge Dear Julie. That pooch does deserve more that a rub behind the ears for sure.
Ps~ I think you should mention your pooch in your siggy line, a well loved member of the family.

According to what I've heard ... and supported by this,

    http://www.glasgowzoo.co.uk/articles...ded/snakes.php ,

    snakes are deaf.

What kind of markings did it have?

Remember, snakes are really good at keeping down the rodent population.

Oh man, one that big, I think I would have collapsed with fear! We have lots of them in our yard. Recently, a black racer in my garden, killing a poor lizzard, I froze when I seen it and screamed and started to cry(I know but I am just "off" sometimes now) and stayed that way for about 10 minutes.
    I hate snakes.
Our kids, mainly dd(7) and our 9 yr old ds, wanted to go over and hunt any snakes and rid them from mommy's presence. They are not ok with mommy being scared like that

I think I would have frozen and then peed myself if I wasn't sure if it was poisonius or not. I don't like snakes either. We do have some but they are mainly garden snakes, they don't bother me to much.

Awww, poor snakie, lol. Seriously, when I first see them I do jump, but let them be unless they're poisonious which is rare around here. I hate when they eat my toads and froggies tho, I LOVE them.

My best friend is DEATHLY afraid of them and goes after them with a hoe, good or bad the ONLY good snake in her opinion is a DEAD one. She grew up with a neighbor that was a trapper and he had a shed full of furs so he's catch all the snakes he could and put them in there to keep rodents from damaging the furs. So there were snakes EVERYWHERE including the outhouse in her childhood. Funny, you should see how fast she can climb a fence if she doesn't have a hoe handy, she can also spot rustling grass from 50 yards, lol
