picnics
My son had a end of the school trip today and they went to a park near the lake and had a picnic and played. There were so many families just having a picnic, nothing fancy. It got me thinking as to when the last time we just packed up a basket and went for a picnic. When was the last time you went for one?

Picnic just for picnics sake? Probably never. Usually we have one when we go on a trip & stop for lunch.
When the kids were young (& Mil would watch the kids) Jack & I would take the canoe out and find a nice place on the shoreline to hop out & have some cheese, crackers & wine. Those were the days.

A couple of weeks ago. We finished up a paint job early and went to a near by park in Tampa on the Hillsbrought River. Stopped on the way at a subway got lunch and took it along. Spent a good three hours eating, talking, laying on a drop cloth under a tree and walking the boardwalks. It was so nice to take a break in the middle of the week in the middle of the day and just enjoy each others company.

Wednesday dd had the day off from work, we packed our picnic and spent the day at a lake 30 minutes from here. We had such a nice afternoon we have vowed to do it again sometime soon.

Last weekend. I took the kids swimming and packed a lunch. This was supposed to turn into a regular thing but today it's to cold to go swimming and to wet to go to the park.

When my kids were young, we would pick up a chicken family meal and I would make a gallon of sweet tea and a pie for dessert and we would head off to the park for the afternoon. I had not thought of those sweet carefree days in a long time. Thanks for helping me to remember how much fun a picnic is. I guess the answer to your question would be "entirely too long for me". I am going to plan one soon.

Picnics in my family equal disaster. Everytime I plan one something happens (weather turns bad at the last minute, family feuding, last minute schedule change). Hubby doesn't like picnics to begin with. We go, unpack the car, eat, and he's ready to go home.

When my daughters were young we would go to the park and cook supper 2 or 3 times a week, but they are both out of the house so that dosen't happen anymore. Maybe Barb and I should go on a picnic this week.

Ages ago. When the kids were young we had a boat and very often during the warm months, we packed a cooler, headed to the lake for the day. We had sooo much fun. Hope to do it again oneday before long.
