Soon to be Newlywed starting a new life!!!
Hi everyone!
My name is Rachel and I've been lurking for a while now. I'm getting married in a month and a half to a great man!! We've been together for almost 7 years and we're eloping in august!! I'm so excited!!
But with all the planning and the excitement, I've decided not to let the practical parts of marriage slip my mind either. That includes finances. I'm a student in my last year and I have a quite a bit of debt. He had debt left over from when he was in school. The total is in and around $30,000 (yikes!! Its shocking when you see it in front of you!!).
We're also planning on buying a house in a few years after some of the debt is paid off because we are very dissatisfied with apartment life
I'm hoping that mu experience here will give me new insight on frugality and debt payment, as well as married life. I also hope to gain some friends since this board seems so friendly!!
Look forward to talking to you in other posts!!!
Rachel

Hi, Rachel!
I'm new here as well, but it sounds like we have similar circumstances. My boyfriend and I got married last month in Jamaica on our 8th anniversary. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!
