How do you deal with the mail?

I just went out and got the mail...mostly junk. One bill. I'm obsessive about mail and paper clutter...I hate it! I open the mail near the shredder. I put anything with our name or address on it through the shredder and all other *paper* gets put in the recycle box. Bills get put in my bill basket with a stamp and address label affixed to the envelope. I've been helping a friend clean and organize...and I'm amazed by the *boxes* of papers/bills/mail she had to go through.....I wonder how she ever paid anything on time??? Some were unopened...some was just junk mail that was months old!

So...how do you deal with mail as it comes in?

From the moment I pick it up I go through it, junk is disposed of and bills are paid immediately and put on hubbies desk to be filed. Hubbies magazines and Farm and Dairy get put at his place at the table and he has 48 hours to find the appropriate place for them OUT OF MY WAY or their fair game for me, lol!

This is a problem area for me. I always have mail laying around. I get the bills out and put them in their holder, and once their paid they go back into another holder. I don't have a problem of paying my bills on time. I just don't get around to looking at the other part of the mail (junk) so it sits around. Also I have trouble getting rid of ds's school papers. I should just chuck the junk in the trash as I get out the bills. I need to work on this..

bills get put in my bill paying drawer as soon as they come in. dh's magazines go in his computer chair. junk gets put in the trash.

I come in throught the garage with the mail stopping over the recycle bin to sort. All junk gets tornup and thrown in right away. It never makes the house. Bills go out to the folder on my desk. Mags go to the hall bathroom which gets purged once a month. I got on the no junk mail list when it first came out and we have very little junk mail.

I hate junk mail too! It seems like a waste of paper and my time to sort through it. I open my mail near the wastebasket and shredder. Personal info goes through the shredder before being tossed and the rest of the junk mail is tossed into the wastebasket. I place my bills into a basket that I designated for that purpose only so that they are easy to locate.
