What would you do?
I have been to a couple of picnic's lately where people have said they have had other people ask for food. My aunt said they had a man last year ask for food during their picnic. She was outraged and told him to get lost. They thought he could have been a local college student.
Yesterday a woman at our picnic said she had her daughters birthday party at the park we were at and had 2 kids just join in and ask for food. She also told them to leave. When I asked if they had a parent with them she replied oh they were just project kids who hopped the fence. I would have fed all of them. I would never deny food to anyone.
What would you have done?

I would probably give them food.
I'm a Christian and I think it's the book of Hebrews that says to be hospitable to everyone, because, you might be entertaining angels and not realize.

I think it depends on the situation - I could spare some extra goodies for a kid that wandered over. I think of it this way: if they do taht, then they must not have good parents, parents who watch over them and tell them it is unaccecptable to do such things. Those kids need the little acts of kindness most.

i would like to think i would not turn anyone away.
But it hink it would depend on if i felt threatened in any way by the person approaching or not.

I have had kids ask for things before and my usual response is "ask your Mom or Grandma if it's okay". Either the kid will just leave, or will at least have to check in with an adult they know first. While it wouldn't be a problem to feed an extra kid or two, I wouldn't want a stranger or casual acquaintance feeding my young kids without my knowledge. I would at least want to give the parents a chance to find out what their kid was doing first. You never know if a child might have diabetes or allergies.

I could see it both ways. I think I would have to think it over and see what my heart tells me to do.

I don't think I could have turned the kids down ... Maybe they really were hungry. I know my family always brings way to much food so we have some to spare.

I have an open door policy with food and toilet paper. If I have some, anyone can have some. With kids, I always tell them to ask their parents, but if they are parentless then I just feed 'em. I *do* always ask them fi they have allergies.... most kids will know if they have them.

I would tell them to get a plate.
We have had people stop and offer to weed our garden or do anything for some food. We just give them some and make sure they take a sandwich bag with them.
I could never turn anyone away.... Thats the way I was brought up.

I come from a large family, and there is always plenty of food at picnics. I would've fed them all, too.
I just couldn't turn away someone asking for food.

There is usually so much food at these types of events. I would have fed anyone that asked. I would never turn away a hungry child, even if if meant no dessert or whatever for me.
