My turn for a FIL rant
DH is out of town tonight, it's just me, the dogs, and the kids. It was 1 am, the dogs awoke to a engine revving. They begin barking, which in turn wakes up myself and our 1 yr old son, who freaks at the noises all around. Since there is a truck out there that doesn't seem all that familiar in the no light of our alley, I call the police about a suspicious vehicle disturbing the peace. I get the dogs calmed down, and son calmed down. The flashing police lights are going outside, but i nearly trip over dd who was woken by all the hoop-lah. I get her ushered back into bed, cuddled with her doll under her pink blankets, tucked in nice and cozy. I peek out the door and see an ambulance (grateful that they didn't have sirens going) headed away from our area, followed by a firetruck. They must have come while i was taking care of the kids. All that's left is a few police cars, and an officer walking up to the door. I open it and get a better view of the truck...it's FIL's truck. They took him to the hospital, because as they were arresting him, he complained of chest pains. (probably thought that would distract them from him being a drunken jerk waking up the neighborhood.) He will be charged with drunk driving, and disturbing the peace. He didn't know dh is out of town and was probably looking for a guest for his pity party, and thought he'd find one here. Instead he got to move his party elsewhere. He was way past drunk on their breat-a-lizer dohickey thing. And apparently someone had called in on his license plate earlier int he evening for poor driving. Police gave me his car keys so i could move his truck out of the alley. i couldn't get the stinkin thing moved out of the way of other residents traffic, so i called one of my bils to come move it. He parked it out of the way, in my rear driveway. BIl has gone to the hospital to find out what's next and will call me to let me know if fil is being charged in fact with anything.
whee fun!! it's now 3 am, and i get to go to bed! I called dh, and let him know what's going on. I didn't want fil to call him for a ide from the hospital and be blindsided by it all. He'll be back in town by late breakfast time anyhow.

Oh my goodness Missy! I hope that you got some much needed rest after all of that! Can you give him a lecture about how the kids do not need to see all of that?
I hope that you have a better day today, and I am thinking of you!

thus far, nope i haven't gotten a wink of sleep. right afer posting the thread, i had to clean up a dog mess on the carpet. (4 am) then at just after 5 am the phone rang, bil letting me know what is going on with fil. dh called from Wyoming at 6 am freaking out because the stinkin alarm clock he borrowed wouldn't turn off, lol, note to self, giving dh a barbie alarm clock, hilarious. Other bil called at 8 am to try to ream me out for not informing him about fil's arrest and subsiquent hospital visit ( he was indeed faking his "chest pains" ) . I let loose on the bil who dared get mad at me. 9 am dh called, he belw a tire on his work truck would be late getting home. we went to have lunch together when he got home. when i got home code enforcement had been by and left us fines. i had to call the office and get the administrator to discuss the issue with his officer. He had said the yrd was ok, and she has decided to continue her assault. next i get to go pick up a near free tredmill. then i am comming home, ordering a pizza for dh and the kids, taking meds for my cold, and am going to bed.

Missy, that story is stressful to read, I can't imagine living it. Hugs are being sent your way, I would have done the exact same thing as you. FIL should feel pretty darn stupid about it. I bet you had a throbbing headache from your cold, stress, and a lack of sleep. Wow, I hope you get a good night's sleep tonight.

I have a better idea. Instead of sending them to an island far, far away, because they can always get a boat ride home, how about sending them to pluto? Harder to find a spaceship ride home.
But seriously, i hope you don't catch any flack either. It wasn't your fault.

My favorite parts were picturing your dh with a Barbie alarm clock & you going to bed. Whew, what a day. Hope today is a better one in every way.

Aww, how did I just know someone would blame you? There's always one in every family isn't there?
And nope, dog yack is NOT a pleasant thing to deal with, ruins my sleep too, lil Abner did that to me last night just before dinner, joy.
And thanks for the giggle on the Barbie clock, lolol!

I would have done the same thing as you; I would have called the police because of the disturbance. It is noone's fault but his own.
I hope you get a better night's rest tonight.~*Michelle*~
