Newbie from Idaho
Hi to all. I found Frugal Villiage via google. I'm very interested in learning new ways to cut costs. My husband was just demoted from his job and we were already living paycheck to paycheck. We have one daughter 16mo. My mother watches her during the day because I work. We also have a 9 year old chihuahua. We don't really have time (or $) for hobbies. I've always thought that a penny saved is a penny earned and I hope to share and find tips and tricks to scrape by without feeling such a pinch.

Thank you, everyone, for the warm welcome. I'm from a little town 4 hours north of Boise. I had a terible illness with my pregnancy that wiped me out emotionally, physically and financially. So here I am with $7000 in credit card debt ($6000 of which are medical bills) $41,000 in student loans (my husbands and mine) $76000 mortgage, $8800 vehicle loan, $0 savings!

Hello and
to the village. Read, read, read and you'll find some ideas that will help you out. Just remember you didn't get where you are overnight and you most likely won't get out over night. But, you can get out of it

Hi and welcome from Canada. For sure you have a journey ahead of you but never doubt that you can do it one step at a time. The very first thing I did was quit buying all disposables one at a time and when I figured out what I was going to do to take their place I moved on to the next thing until I buy no disposables at all - except tp - have even seen how to do without that but can't go there.

Disposables
How has cutting out disposables worked for you? I am still using disposable diapers, because I'm not sure if it will be worth the investment to cloth now that my daughter is already 17 months. But who knows when she will be potty trained! Also I work and my mother watches her during the day, but she does not want to use cloth while she has her. What about sanitary pads? I've seen the cloth ones and also the insertable cups, but would love to know if anyone has tried these? I'll post this question as a new thread too.
