Does anyone here have solar panals for the home??
I am just looking into this idea, and wonder how much it costs.
How much money can be saved?

Not at this time but we're really looking into both solar and wind power here, part of our farm is at the top of a valley and we REALLY get a wind going here, even on the calmest days we have a breeze and in the winter the winds get down right nasty!
Let me know what information you come up with, when we come up with some extra cash we really want to get started on it.

What type of solar panels exactly? For providing electricity or providing hot water heating or both?
We don't have any yet. We are planning on installing panels for hot water heating. There is a federal tax credit this year and next for new systems put in place (you can find info online and there is some info posted in the Utilities forum if you go back through older posts). Your state may have some rebates or tax credits as well.

We don't but are starting to seriously look into them as well. I'd be very interested in what you find as well.
(we're looking for electricity generation and are thinking about a wind generator as well)
