    Unhappy I had to spend $200 today...

    on new tires. I've known I needed a new set for a little while now but I was hoping they would hold out for a few more months. No such luck. The front left tire felt funny while I was driving to work this morning. I drove home for lunch and when I got out of the car I checked that tire but I didn't see anything wrong. I took my hand and ran it around the entire tire and lets just say it had issues. And the other ones weren't too far behind. Well I guess that's what the EF is for, right?
    “When you get to the end of all the light you know
    and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
    faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
    you will be given something solid to stand on,
    or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller

    “Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
    there are signs that the world is speedily
    coming to an end;
    bribery and corruption are common; children no
    longer obey their parents;
    every man wants to write a book and the
    end of the world is evidently approaching.”
    — From a translation of an inscription on
    an Assyrian clay tablet, circa 2800 B.C.E.

    God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
    courage to change the things I can,
    and the wisdom to know the difference

    You did the right thing to replace them. Just image what could have happened if you had a blow-out., You did the right thing. You'll build your ef back up in no time.

    Glad that you had the $$ for it. Still stinks, though.

    Same thing happened to me -- my car was making a strange noise, so I took it in. Apparantly the brakes had rusted so badly they'd warped my brake pads! Zoom! There goes the EF. But now my pretty Bulue Bell is safe to drive again.

    You are way ahead of the game. Many people will drive on tires that "feel funny" until they either have a blowout or wreck the alignment of their vehicle. You may have spent $200 today but you have saved yourself the money from a tow truck or an alignment! Good thinking!

    Yup, you did the right thing for sure. This would fall under "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" type thing.

    Sorry you had to spend your $$ but I am glad that you found the problem before it got worse or you had an accident.

    A car is like family, if you dont take care of it - it wont take care of you. Thats my belief and so far each car I've had possession of has treated me well even though some were on death beds

    As daisy said, you caught it just in time before it affected the rest of your car costing you more then just a set of tires.

    Oh yeah, you did the right thing. Better to spend the cash than to be stranded on the side of the road somewhere. My car is due for a new set of tires. We rotate and replace our tires after so many miles, just like oil and filter changes. We also keep a maintenance record on each vehicle. Saves us alot of $$ in the long run.
