Confession time: I spent $84 today
Last minute school and a tiny bit of grocery shopping!
But here's what I got for my $84.
$13 - haircut for dd
$4 - latte for me (hey, I'm shopping with FOUR children the day before school starts...can we say CRAZY! lol)
$4 - leather belt for ds (reg. $14.50, marked down to $6.99, I got it for $3.50+tx)
$2.00 - mini glad bowls (for school lunches)
$3.00 - 3 lithium batteries for dd's NeoPets - bought with her money
$10.00 - lunch box for youngest ds. I CANNOT believe I forgot to get him a lunchbox. I had to go to three different stores just to find one
$3.00 - 3 lunch box freezer packs
$3.00 - 6 tennis balls (on youngest ds's supply list. I assume it's to put on their chair legs. I could not find just pkgs of two or four. It was three or twelve per pkgs
$1.00 - 3 ring binder for dd
$2.75 - loaves w/w bread
$1.30 - loaves white bread
$1.70 - gallon milk
$3.30 - bulk pkg french toast sticks (special "mom doesn't have to cook on the first day of school" breakfast - but was cheaper in bulk)
$3.00 - 2 boxes Cinnamon Life Cereal
$3.15 - LARGE box Old Fashioned Oatmeal
$4.25 - 4.33lbs red seedless grapes
$2.00 - 6 cans veggies (beans, corn, peas)
$4.00 - 4 (4ct) pkgs Dole fruit bowls
$1.00 - 3lb macaroni
$9.25 - ham (99c/lb)
$3.20 - 6 fresh spinach bagels
$0.80 - 2lbs very ripe bananas (will use for banana bread)
$1.20 - 4lbs slightly bruised apples (will use the really banged up ones for apple bread/muffins)
Can someone share any unfrugal-ness to make me feel better?

Hmmm the only thing I can think of at the moment is last week I went to pick up a few things at walmart and bought a $6.00 eyeliner (mine was almost out) only to come home and find out it was a lemon and wouldn't twist up
Our walmart is under construction (its becoming a super walmart this fall/winter, so its really crazy and I didn't even like going there in the first place) so I never returned the eyeliner, and I still need a new one. (I know its only six bucks but its totally wasted if I don't return the broken product)
Also last week I went to Old Navy and bought my sis some baby shower gifts and found some great deals on summer clothes (I like to stock up in the fall for next summer) I got 3 tanks for $ 2.65 each with really cool prints on them and a print tee for $2.95 marked down from $15, I fell right in love with the green color and was so excited because I had a $10 off coupon to use when I checked out. Anyway I saw the checkout woman ring everything up including my new favorite green tee but when I got home and looked through the bag it wasn't in there
I figured I wouldn't be traveling down that way for a couple weeks and didn't bother with it and called it a loss.
I didn't know what they would have done for me if I had gone back at a later date anyway or if they would have believed me if I told them an item I bought was not put in the bag so I didn't bother
So anyway those are my bummer non-frugal stories

next time regarding the tee....call and if they find it, they'll put it aside for you till you come back....

yeah I did consider calling, problem was I wouldn't have been able to describe it well enough for them to identify it. I couldn't remember the size or what was even printed on the front, I just saw that it was cheap and loved the green color, tried it on, and threw it in my shoping bag.
I did go online to their website when I had gotten home to see if it was in their bargain section and hope to get a better look at the front so I could be able to call and describe it, but it wasn't on their site, so I just said screw it and remember to pay attention and watch from now on as my purchases are being bagged.

Honestly, I think you did pretty good. You did get a lot of things for the money especially when it was last minute shopping. I think you deserved the Latte, you've got to splurge a little on yourself once in awhile.

Lets see, I ordered some stuff from freegirlystuff.com for $17.00 but I got free shipping and had a 20% off code, I saved over $9.00. Then, DH and I went shopping for him, he needed to get some items and I ended up buying a black zip-up hoodie. I've been looking for one since last winter and it seems like every time I find them they're the wrong size or color or they have logos on them. So I bought it even though I can't really afford it but I know if I didn't buy it right then I probably wouldn't find one again til winter of '07-'08 LOL.

you will be given something solid to stand on,
or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller
“Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
there are signs that the world is speedily
coming to an end;
bribery and corruption are common; children no

every man wants to write a book and the
end of the world is evidently approaching.”

courage to change the things I can,

I haven't really been out shopping lately. Heather, I think you got some fantastic bargains. Everything you bought had a purpose and will be used. You did a good job.

I think you got some great deals Heather, and it was all needed things, especially the latte.
Heck, I figure to be shopping with 4 kids on the last day before school starts, I would have been swigging from a bottle of wine! And that is much more expensive than a latte. See -- you made the frugal choice, lol!

LOL, I'm with Daisygirl on this one! I'd have been swigging from a flask! Just the thought of school shopping with 4 kids gives me the shivers, lol! You MORE than deserved that latte!!

LOL! I guess y'all are right. I just beat myself up over the overall amount. And a couple of things on there (latte included) weren't exactly frugal. Like my spinach bagels that I should have gotten last week when they were 12 for $3.20
That belt for ds was a pretty good deal though! And it took all my willpower not to go back into Old Navy and look for more deals

You done good GF. Heck, It would have been a "Hit me baby one more time" w/latte day for me, LOL. I don't do well in crowds, especially shoppers. I have all of my Christmas shopping (including holiday food) bought within three days of receiving our Christmas club money, which is usually a few days before Thanksgiving. I take notes all through the year on everyone as to what they want or need. Saves me time, money, and nerves, and starting now, I save my greenback stamps from our local Piggly Wiggly to get my free Thanksgiving turkey, and hubby gets a $50 Walmart gift card and I use that to buy my Christmas ham.
