Unhappy Will it never end? (vent inside)

Dh was told at work today that the company is changing their hours (this came from WAY above his boss's head) from the 9am-6pm they are now to 10am-7pm. Effective Monday.

This means he won't get home until nearly 8pm. Which means on days that I work, the kids are home alone from the time they get home from school until nearly bedtime No one to get their dinner, no one to make sure homework is getting done, no one to oversee bathtimes.

This also leaves me no time to ask for a different schedule. Any changes I make in my availability won't take effect for nearly 2 weeks. I can't have my kids home on their own after school for that length of time. I just can't I don't know what to do.

On a better note, a friend told me today of a job that she was offered that she thinks I would be perfect for. She's good friends with this person and the position would be administrative assistant to a home loan consultant. The pay is good, the hours are good. Please please please let this be the one. I'm so tired of this crap.

Wow, so sorry Heather. It's so hard to have to deal with this kind of thing all of the time. Definitely check out the other job. May be just what you're looking for. Thoughts are with you.

So sorry about the company changing the hours like they did on your dh without a notice. Do you think you could talk to the person in charge where you work and ask them if you can change your hours due to the circumstances?
I'm like you I wouldn't want to leave them there that long by themselves.
Saying a prayer for you. Hugs to you.

I'm sorry Heather. My dh's company did that to us when we moved to Florida too. However I didn't have to worry about kids being home alone. I can understand you not wanting your children to be home alone. I hope that this jobs works out for you. Keeping you in my thoughts.

Heather, it must be so tough trying to align your schedules and take care of the kids, house, hubby. I have so much respect for all of the women here who do that every day. I don't have kids and find that organizing my time can be crazy, I can only imagine the frustration you are going through. Good Luck on the new job, here's hoping you get it and DH's schedule change turns out to be a blessing in disguise. HUGS!

    Heather,

For 30 years hubby has worked a swing shift, and I remember so well how frustrating it was trying to work myself back then with 2 small kids. We didn't have any family around then, but I did have wonderful neighbors who were able to help us out whenever needed, so that was a blessing.

You go out and claim this new job GF! Sounds like it's tailor made for you and your family situation. Remember.....When one door closes, God opens another one.

Oh, Heather, that is so frustrating. I would not like to leave my kids alone like that either. Perhaps because of the emergency situation your work would let someone trade with you. Best of luck, thinking of you.
