I helped my sister put on a wedding for 200.

We bought the top sheet only in a twin from Walmart for $3. It makes a TON of napkins with minimul sewing needed. Just a double turn and a straight stitch.

We also used sheets for the table clothes...cheaper than renting and then she sold them in a garage sale!

I have done the some thing. I bought the cheap dish rags at Wally's and used those as napkins. I also like the utility clothes as well. I really need to get some more.

I'm going to have to try that. I'm tired of spending money on expensive paper towels. Now if I could find a way to save on TP!

I don't have a sewing machine, but I did by 20 yds of "stitch witch" today at WAl Mart for 97 cents plus tax. I want you to know I've never just walked in and bought just one thing. It was so cool.

Anyway tomorrow I will hem that cut edge and have 30 cute inexpensive napkins. I will save the rest of the paper napkins for company. My little girls are already fighting over which cloth napkins will be theirs.

Thanks for all your support. I told my sneerers and jeerers they'd better watch out or I'll whip out some stink eye on em and they'll be sorry. LOL

Hugs to you all. I love ya!

I have always used cloth napkins in my house. My mother gave about 20 when I got married and I bought some $ store dishcloths too. At the time my sewing machine was broken and I needed a different color napkin for a party I was giving. As a fabric tip, I always look for 100% cotton sheets at the thrift store. I use them to make tote bags for church ladies groups but they'd also make a TON of napkins for pennies. I just got a cream floral queen sheet for $3. Also...I'll bet people would love to get these as a gift. They save alot of money and they're elegant too!

I think it's a great idea! I always look for cloth napkins at garage sales, etc... I think they are WAYYYYY overpriced in the stores! Congrats on the fantastic idea!!

    Default not a dumb idea

Hey I do the same thing. A roll of paper towels around here lasts about 2 days. I don't cut mine though cause I found out the chearper ones will shrink and fray so I just use them full size. I got 25 for 5 bucks at walmart one day.

Even when we do occasionally have the paper napkins, DH would still like to use the clean kitchen hand towel, or wash cloth. I guess I could go out and buy enough towels/wash cloths to do my whole family.. Most of my extended family would think it was a great idea using cloth anything as napkins.. We are all frugal down deep inside, even though some may deny it... LOLOL.... Now the question-get white ones to keep bleached and real clean, or get dark so that all the stains it may incur are "hidden"... What do you all think?

I just couldn't live without my Bounty Paper Towels. I get them in the select-a-size. A big roll will last me 2 weeks. I prefer paper towels to cloth simply because I have pets that shed. I'm not fond of pet hair near my food, mouth or counter tops. For me, it just seems the more sanitary way to go for my situation.
