DH is in Chicago....where should he go?
He is on a business trip and he got really lost today trying to do some sightseeing.
He is staying in Elgin, Algonquin area and attending a tech center....
So are there any FV in the area? If there are what is the one (or two) thing he should go to see? Tonight he found himself in the St. Charles area and the Fox river which he said was very nice.....he then tried to find his way to the chicago waterfront but that was less successful LOL.
Any suggestions?

I don't know how long your husband is going to be in Chicago, but I went in May with my sister-in-law while she was on a business trip. I fell in love with the navy pier and the millieum (sp) park. Wheter he will like it I don't know but just making a few suggestions.

Hey Holli,
There's a lot to do in Chicago. I guess it depends on whether he has free time during the day or at night, etc... I don't live in Chicago, but don't live that far either, so I make it in about once a year.
There's lots of blue's bars in Chicago, if he's into that sort of thing. He would have to ak someone how to get to them. Then there's several museums along the lake shore, The Shedd Aquarium, The planetarium, the Field Museum and The Museum of Science and Industry. They are east of down town and along Lake Shore Drive. If he gets down into the area they call the Loop, more of the center of downtown, there's an art museum. Those are just a few of the things I can think of off the top of my head. He will probably have to ask some locals or at the hotel desk. The north side has what we always referred to as German town. There's some good resturants there too. There also used to be, and I haven't been in a long time, I think it was the Water Tower Mall that he could just go and look at. I am not sure where Elgin is, because Chicago is this huge city. Another thing he could do is go check out the Sears Tower. You can go up to the top and look out for miles on a clear day. I believe that since the twin towers fell, that the Sears Tower is again the tallest building in the country, if not the world.
Hope this helps.

If he's staying in Elgin, he's about an hour northwest of downtown Chicago. The best way to get to Chicago from there is to take 90 East and follow the signs for Chicago. Kathy has some great ideas!

Kathy does have great ideas! I would also add the Lincoln Park Zoo which is free every day. I also love the Wrigleyville area. Even if he doesn't go to a game or isn't a baseball fan, the atmosphere around the park is amazing. It's a really beautiful place.
Also, the Chicago Cultural Center is free too. It used to be the main branch of the Chicago Public Library. The architecture is really gorgeous to look at, and I think they have exhibits and programs throughout the year.
The Navy Pier is really fun, and there's a lot to do there. It's right along the waterfront on Lakeshore. It might be a little cold there today along the water though.
And everytime I go to Chicago, I have to eat at Portillo's. There's a bunch throughout the Chicago area, but I know for sure there's one in Schaumburg which isn't far from Elgin.~Amanda~

There is so much to do in Chicago, it really depends on what he is interested in seeing. This time of year a number of the outlying communities are having their Fall Festivals.. Millenium park downtown is supposed to be phenomenal

Yes! Definitely have him hit Portillos! I have one about 3 minutes away from where I live. There's one in St. Charles on Main St.
