    Question Elmo... money maker?

I saw a big stack of the new TMX Elmo at our Super WalMart the other day. I considered buying one for DD for Christmas, then later found out that DH's aunt is getting her one. That's good, she'll like it.

Today on the news, I saw where people got into a fight over the last one on the shelf- it was at a Target store, and I think it was in Florida. Something about a death threat and an arrest. That's crazy!

But, it got me to thinking... I wonder if these will be that hot up until Christmas? Will there be enough to go around? Could I make some money if I bought one now and eBay-ed it in November or December? Hmmm..... I may have to do a little research and see how in-demand they're predicting these to be!

I can't believe people are falling for it again 10 years later.

But to answer your question, yes you could probably make a few extra dollars on Ebay. Good luck!

Are people insane? We have never bought into the "Hot toy this Christmas" madness. Most children that this toy is aimed at don't even know that it exists. It is the parents and grandparents fueled by the media reports that make it the "must have toy of Christmas 2006".

It may be cute, I don't know, I haven't seen one, but there are lots of other cute toys out there too, that don't cost $39.99 (or more on ebay). My daughter's favorite Christmas gift of all time was a set of painted wooden building blocks in a canvas drawstring bag. She got them when she was 18 months old, and still has them (she is 10). Just the other day they got pulled out and she built a cruise ship for some of her "fantasy figures". They have been played with so much, the paint is wearing off some of them. The bag is still in great shape. Best $19.99 I ever spent on a toy. How many Elmo dolls do you think will still be getting played with eight years after they are received?

I'd buy some and put them on Ebay if I saw them around here. Definitely a money maker.

I bought and resold several hot ticket items last year at Christmas time. I picked up 10 of the Chat Now toys for $59.00 each and sold everyone for $110 each, also bought a combo pack Xbox360 (game console, five games and several accessories) for $1080.00 and sold it within ten minutes of listing it for $1800.00. I have gone looking for the Elmo doll around here - but no luck finding any.
I say if you can get your hands on one go for it!!! As soon as I find a couple I am going to pick them up and list them on eBay. Folks on eBay will buy anything!!!! I have even bought Febreeze Scent Story playersat Rite Aid for $14.00 and sold them for $35.00 each plus $11.00 shipping. These are not even hard to find and you can buy them regular price w/o coupon for $24.00 - still sold them like crazy! I love eBay this time of year!

I am always in favor of making money. I say go for it, I just wouldn't buy one. Many people will, I am sure.
