Question How many of you sell on eBay?

how many of yall sell on ebay?

i just created a paypal account and am contemplating taking that first big leap into the online selling world.

ive bought things on ebay before, but not many. my feedback number is only a FOUR!! and so im thinking that this might caution people when determining whether or not to buy something from me. i have dozens of purses (a horrible reminder of my not so frugal days) and they sit in my closets and drawers and under the bed. i like them, but i just dont dress in a way that would go with those purses anymore. at home i'm t-shirt and jeans, and at work im black pants and a solid colored shirt (both from ts). sometimes i think about all the money wasted on those sewn up pieces of leather and it makes me wonder what i could have done with that money. live and learn i guess.

after fees from both ebay and paypal and then the trip to the post office, do you still feel that its worth it?

how about some links to your online stores..

I just got back into selling on E-bay about a month or so ago. I love selling on E-bay. Currently, I'm just selling things from around the house, trying to simplify. It's amazing how much stuff I have that I don't really need. I'm also selling stuff for my mom. Purses are pretty big sellers. I've sold a bunch of them for my mom. I've also sold a bunch of dress shoes for her that she never wore. I'm going to be listing a bunch of stuff this weekend. I do have a store on E-Bay, but I also list auctions weekly. Since I work full-time, I've had a hard time getting my items listed, but with the holidays coming up, it's a great motivator. Sales usually are great around the holidays.

You feedback is low, but you should be ok if you wanted to start selling stuff. We all have to start somewhere. If you wanted to build your feedback up, just purchase a few small ticket items.

My e-bay ID is tervsforme. You can do an advanced search and search by ID.

I'd be happy to help any way I can. I know there are others here who sell on E-bay also! Good Luck!

I sell on ebay once in a while when I need the extra cash, but I've sold brand new in box makeup, purses, clothing and stuff like that, atleast enough to make it worth my while with all those fees and then paypal fees.

I've only sold 2 big ticket items on ebay, 1 was a lot of over 100 DVD's I think I got like $700 for them and then over 100 boyds bears where I got $1250 for them, I try to see what sells on there but I know purses are a plus and brand name clothing too!

    Good luck on your venture!

I usually have DH sell eBay stuff for me, but lately I've been thinking that if he can teach me how to use the digital camera (ok, I can use the camera, but I need to know how to get the pictures onto the computer and then onto eBay) I'd try my hand at it myself. We keep a small "eBay" pile and then list the items when we get up to 5 or 6 things - right now we have about 10 things in the pile.

I have found that when a seller has a low feedback number (but positive feedback) that generally their items will sell, but not for as much. Once you have a higher feedback rating, you'll get more bidders and you can sell your stuff for more. DH once bought a cordless IP phone from a seller with a feedback rating of 2 for $250, and ended up selling it six months later for $500 (his feedback rating is over 200).

I'm really hoping to get my rating over 100 this year - I've been selling on Half.com (same rating system) and I'm up to 99.

We have been selling during the holiday seasons for a couple of years. Last year was our best sales year to date. Like everyone else has said, as our feedback has gotten higher (in the 350 range now) the amount we can sell our items for has also increased. We have an eBay store for the majority of our stuff and only auction a few items. Our biggest ticket item was an xbox 360 system with 5 games and several accessories we paid $1000.00 for the day it came out and sold it for $1800.00. We sold it within 10 minutes of listing it. Also have sold several other big ticket toy items, many new clothes, a few used clothes, advertising signs, kids videos, fast-food premiums, back issues of magazines, there is a buyer for just about everything. For the months of Nov thu Jan our sales were over $1000.00 each month. The money we made mainly went to buy Christmas presents for the kids and to help pay for son's baseball expenses (as these run about $2000.00 per season).
I love it. All of the money goes right into my paypal account and we use our paypal cards to access the $$.
The amount of time it takes to list items is minimal. I would recommend limiting your shipping dates to two or three a week at the most. I made the mistake of saying I would ship daily and at that time I had to go to the post office to ship. It was a pain after a while. We have now gotten postal scales and print our own postage and the postman picks up from the house, much easier.
Good luck!! It is addictive!!! We catch ourselves checking on our sales several times a day. And we love seeing someone pay $15.00- $20.00 for something we bought at a yard sale for under $1.00

My biggest fear about selling on ebay is listing everything, shelling out the fees and not having my items sell. The last time I sold something for my son on ebay it was a nightmare. I would love to make extra money, but I am so leary of being stuck with more fees than making money.

~I sold 15 video games and dvd's last year. I couldn't believe that everything I listed sold. I made $200! I offered to ship additional auctions for only a $1 more so a couple people bought multiple things. As far as it being worth it. how much money are your handbags earning you by sitting under the bed?Oh, I also started my auctions at 99 cents. I generally buy on Ebay. My feedback is 80-something. I have about 60 things in my sunroom that need to be listed. I should get busy!~
