    Default I called in sick, need a day all to myself

    I almost did this last week, and this morning I went and got dressed in my work clothes and did my hair and makeup and ate breakfast. I started looking at that clock and picked up the phone and just called in sick....I haven't called in sick in 5 years!!! I have been feeling really unappretiated (I didn't spell that right) and have been working extra hours for the last 5-6 weeks...waiting for them to hire another person. Fed up and hoping this will get things moving. Woo-hoo !!! a day to myself and time to just relax. I will not feel guilty today...I can't believe I did it this time.

    Nothing wrong with that! Banish the guilt (if any) and enjoy it
    “When you get to the end of all the light you know
    and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
    faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
    you will be given something solid to stand on,
    or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller

    “Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
    there are signs that the world is speedily
    coming to an end;
    bribery and corruption are common; children no
    longer obey their parents;
    every man wants to write a book and the
    end of the world is evidently approaching.”
    — From a translation of an inscription on
    an Assyrian clay tablet, circa 2800 B.C.E.

    God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
    courage to change the things I can,
    and the wisdom to know the difference

    No guilt at all, problem I can't relax.
    so far I have scrubbed all the floors
    took and wiped all the appliances down with ammonia (they look new)
    scrubbed the bathrooms and bleaching the grout
    washing throw rugs
    straightening cupboard and throwing stuff out

    I have decided I will work until 2 oclock and then no more, and I will sit and relax....I am enjoying the cleaning madness, but I better not wipe myself out.
    I'm having the best day!

    Good for you. I hope you had a good rest of your day. I've had to do this in the past. I get burnt out easily, and I'm very underappreciated at my job, so I know where you are!

    You go girl!

    After you finish your cleaning spree, you will be able to relax knowing you accomplished something you needed to do for yourself. There is nothing like a clean house.

    Sometimes we just need a day off even though we still work hard at home, it is nice to be away from the stress and chaos of work.
    Books are the treasured wealth of the world and the fit inheritance of generations and nations.” --Henry David Thoreau

    im glad you gave yourself the break!
    sometimes, when an employer has a good employee, its very easy for them to start to "forget" about them because they dont have to worry about them, they know youll get the job done. so much so, that they might even start to take you for granted. if youve got sick days/personal days.. take them. theyre your days.

    hope you have a calm one!

    I am glad to hear you took the day off! Sometimes we need to take a "mental health day." That is what we call them at our work. I actually did the same thing last week. I just didn't think I would benefit anyone because I was wiped out. I took the day to recoup and felt better the rest of the week.

    Enjoy your day. I'm looking foward to taking a day for myself in early Dec. when the kids are in school (but I'm not planning what to do with it) Sometimes you just need the unplanned time to do whatever hits your fancy.
