I grew up around my grandfather on my dad's side. He passed away in 1976, I was 13. My dad's mother passed away in 1959. My grandmother on my mothers side lived in Tennessee and I only saw her in the summers when we visited. I would have liked it if I was able to spend more time with them.
I always tell my kids it only takes a second to pick up the phone to tell their grandparents hello and see how they are doing, It only takes them 5 minutes to get to their house. The other grandparents (ex's parents)live 2 1/2hrs away but they could still call. My dhs parents and mine live 5 minutes away. We call them every day, Visit them 3 or 4 times a week and we attend the same church.

I was fortunate to know all my grandparents pretty well, and even one great-grandmother.

My dad's parents had a ranch in the middle of nowhere in NV, near what is now Great Basin National Park. We used to visit them for several days every summer. They had no electricity or running water, and an old green outhouse. Grandma didn't get power/phone/indoor plumbing until after Grandpa died, around 1974. She was 75 years old! She died in 1985, when I was 28; he in 1972. I got my gardening and canning/preserving genes, and my crocheting gene from her.

My maternal g-grandmother lived until I was partway through college - I think 1976. She was 88. She was from Denver (granddaughter of the owner of Denver's first dairy), but lived her whole adult live in Franklin, NE.

My mom's parents lived until just a few years ago - he was 88 when he died in 1996. She made it to 87, passing in 1999. They lived in the town where I went to college, and we always visited them for summer vacations, so we were close. I got my worrywart gene from Gramie, lol.

Very few memories of my Grandparents all 4 of them died when I was young. I think the my last remaining grandparent died when I was 8 or 9 years old. My dad was also in the Navy for 27 years and so we did not live near to them even when they were alive.

I knew both sets of my grandparents, plus one great-grama.

My Mom's grama died in 1989 from Brain cancer, but I do remember her. My Mom's parents are both living and live in Kentucky...we have visited every summer since I was born, sometimes more than once. Me and DH still go with my family to visit every year. When I was little, my Papaw used to let me and my sister go to the "little store" by where they lived and let us get anything we wanted. They would take us to the park to cookout and shopping.

My Dad's parents lived right across the street from us through all of my childhood, so we saw alot of them and spent the night all the time. My Papaw on my Dad's side died when I was 15 from kidney failure. When my parents moved to Huber heights from Dayton 4 years ago, my Mamaw moved with them. She died 3 years ago from cihrossis(sp?) of the liver. I loved them both very much...and I miss them alot.

i only knew my me'me' my moms mother. I grew up in that house till i was 7, we (parents and me) moved out in the county. But mostly all my memories are about my grandmother and how sweet she was. She was always there. I lost her when i was 17 to cancer. Still miss her. I mostly lived with her. my parents were not ready even though my father was nearly 35 and my mother 24 at the time. Grammies are the best!!!

I never knew my Dad's father. He died when I was small.

My Dad's mom lived with us for a few years before she passed away (I was in middle school at the time). I still miss her terribly!

My mom's parents lived 2 house down from me growing up...Very close with them to this day. Just stopped over at their house when we were home over the weekend!
