Default We were in an earthquake...thankful for frugal living!

Well, yesterday's earthquake was very scary, but thankfully my family is okay and fortunately we had no damage. But, after we were outside and the tremors were subsiding...I was so very thankful for living this frugal life we share here.

I have been cleaning/decluttering for a while, so the night before I had cleaned up my house quickly after the kids were in bed. I WAS SO THANKFUL that most my clothes/towels were clean, kitchen cleaned, floors cleaned, etc...I had one load in the wash, but I could easily hang that My stockpile looks good and I already wasn't planning on buying more than milk the rest of the month. When the electricity was out and we didn't know if it would be hours/days/or weeks until it came back, I was thankful that my car was filled with gas, we had water, canned goods, ketchup , TP, etc. The first news out on my little radio was that all the stores were closed. There were many people that didn't have supplies on hand...fortunately the power is back up and things are getting back to normal. I told DH that I plan for hurricanes where most time you have a few days to prepare....but it was a comforting feeling being prepared when things happened so quickly and there was no warning. He agreed

We are all so thankful that your family is ok and that you had no damage. That must have been so frightening to go through. Kudos to you for your preparedness.

Thanks everyone! For a little while (maybe 10 seconds...but seemed like an eternity) DS was in another room...that was the worst part!!!

Another thing I just did in the last two weeks after reading about it here a lot, I filled my empty milk jugs with water and put them in the freezers...just in case the power went out and to keep the freezer efficient. I know that also really helped our situation. I am going to keep at it until all the empty spaces are filled.

And yes, it was nice to have it validated. DH was very pleased with me My DSis and Mom usually think I am overboard, even though they accept it now. But yesterday, My DSis brought her two girls to my house because it was safer and I had supplies...plus I had toys/crafts for the kids to occupy them. It was a nice feeling to be able to help my family if they needed it.

Glad you are all ok. It's funny. Most people think we are weird, until something happens. Makes you feel good and grateful.
