This is kind of an inbetween categories question
I didn't know if this should go in off topic or frugality, so I went with off topic.
DH and I are celebrating our 11th anniversary on 11/10. I want to do a celebration of some sort, but we are really trying to cut our budget way back. So I really don't want to spend much if any to celebrate it.
We didn't do a thing for our 10th, since we were both busy/working.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks for your help.It is what it is.

Mke a big pot of Baked ziti with homemade bread and some tossed salad.
Make a special cake and invite friends and family for the celebration.
Tell them no gifts ( if you don't want them ) but if they would like to bring a dish to pass .
or do a Hawaiian theme and Have evryone bring a dish that would be based on that.

How about a romantic candle lit home made dinner for two? Lots of candles, romantic music, a place to dance...Maybe perfume the sheets, lots of candles, some melted chocolate and fruit..I can think of a number of things. Or, how about a romantic candlelit dinner, a movie, and ????
Just an idea. My husband and I have rarely gone out and celebrated our anniversary, mostly due to finances, but sometimes it's the less expensive things that make the memories.

Send the kids (if any) to grandma's or the sitter for the evening or overnight. Have a romantic candlelit dinner. Go to a good bakery and splurge on a luscious dessert that you will both love. Play strip poker
“When you get to the end of all the light you know
and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
you will be given something solid to stand on,
or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller
“Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
there are signs that the world is speedily
coming to an end;
bribery and corruption are common; children no
longer obey their parents;
every man wants to write a book and the
end of the world is evidently approaching.”
— From a translation of an inscription on
an Assyrian clay tablet, circa 2800 B.C.E.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

~We share an anniversary! I'll be married 6 years on November 10. How cool is that? I'm actually trying to convince my DH to go to a marriage conference in Lancaster.He'd rather sit in a hot tub somewhere
! A cheap romantic idea,...hmmm....men love little love notes. Maybe eleven in his lunch box or hidden around the house where he'd find them. Make a tray of eleven different finger foods(chocolate, pretzels, berries, mints etc) and feed each other by candlelight. Give each other oil massages. Hope your anniversary is terrific!~

Some great ideas already. I vote for the candlelit dinner and...
Also wanted to pop in as another November Wedding Anniversary couple(11/16 will be 22yrs.). Not too many of us I figure, seems like everyone gets married in the summer months. Congratulations!~*Darlene*~

Me and DH like to do fun, active things together. Our choice would be a nice hike followed by a picnic (weather permitting), or cross country skiing followed by some snuggling by the fire with a bottle of wine or some hot chocolate and maybe a bubble bath

Our anniversary is in February, so for us winter activities are key

I'm all for the nice dinner and some personal time. We are lucky and I can set up in several different areas of our back yard. We've done meals at the table under the gazebo and I've put up the screen tent and filled it with cushions and we've eaten and fed each other there. We've also done nekkid picnic on the livingroom floor. I know TMI!!! Lots of candles, quiet and soft music.
Once I sent DH on an errand when he returned he was greeted by a cndle lite note at the front door the note gave him directions which lead him,
a. to the shower with my favorite lounging jammies (with special note)and aftershave,
b. special note on pillow directing him to livingroom
c. candle and note directing him to yard.
What ever you decide to do enjoy yourselves.

Is there a family member or friend who could watch the kiddos overnight? You could do an "all about us" evening. Start with a glass of wine and look at your wedding album together or if you did not do an album just share with each other your favorite memory of the ceremony and the day. Then off to a romantic candle lit dinner for two, you can make it yourself or if you want to go out, you can start with romantic bath or shower for two, you could have rose petels leading the way to the bath, where the candles would be burning and soft music playing, if you are eating in, I would do the bath after supper. They you could follow more rose petels to the bedroom where you could have the perfumed sheets and if you like, massage oils or finger foods like strawberries dipped in chocoloate, grapes, melon pieces ect...to share with each other.

Nuisance26 - That's awesome that we share an anniversary! I personnally love fall weddings.
Thank you all for your suggestions. I think we are going to start the day off with some geocaching - probably somewhere on the Cape. I think I'll pack a picnic lunch - using the 11 foods idea. That will make a neat lunch I think.
After that
... - Seriously though, thanks for all of the ideas, we will definitely make it an enjoyable day.
Thank you all again!It is what it is.
