So, for those of you who don't know, I'm the musical director for the spring musical at the middle school where I teach. The director decided that this year we are going to do "High School Musical." It's a Disney channel movie/play that the kids are going to absolutely freak about. We have a feeling we are going to have more kids sign up than ever before. Last year we did "Annie" and the year before that it was "Wizard of Oz." Because this is more pop culture, we are thinking that more kids will try out, which is a good thing because this is a big ensemble show. My only concern is that there are two big male singing parts, and we, traditionally, don't have strong male voices. So, I'm a little worried there. However, as I said, hopefully we'll get some new kids try out this year, so maybe there will be some boys who haven't done it before who are diamonds in the rough.
It's gonna be a long, hard play season getting the kids ready for this one, but it will be worth it in the end.
Break a leg Amy! Hope you get a great turn out and everything comes off without a hitch.

"Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around." ~Leo Buscaglia
Sounds like it will be a lot of work, but I am sure it will turn our great and be worth all your effort. Good luck!

That is a great musical!!! Good luck with it. My DD is doing Bye, Bye, Birdie next Friday and Saturday. Musicals are a lot of work, I know I really appreciate all of the time and efffort that goes into them.
