Do you and your DH agree on candidates
When it comes to politics, do you and your DH or SO agree on candidates and platforms? In my household DH and I seldom agree on the candidates, we are usually voting for different candidates and we even often vote differently on issues. It is funny because we agree on most things but our politics is definitely not one of them. We do have some lively discussions about it, we have been debating with each other about our choices for Governor of Texas, we are both voting for a different candidate and we both think we are correct

Katybird, just curious here, what do you think of Kinky Friedman? I heard him say he wanted to legalize marijuana and lower the drinking age to 18.

For the most part my dh and I agree on politics. We had had an occassion or two where we cancelled each others vote, but we generally agree

Yes, we do. Sure would be alot of fireworks if we weren't...one of us is more passionately vocal lol. Lets just say I'm not the one yelling at the tv almost every night.

Oh want to add that I Can't Wait for the endless commercials to stop. My mute button finger is so sore. Goodbye to those ugly signs too!~*Darlene*~

I tend to be pretty open minded in my thinking but I don't think I am quite open minded enough to vote for Kinky. I do not think that marijuana should be legalized and I am on the fence about lowering the drinking age, it does not seem right to tell an 18 year old that he/she is old enough to join the military and be sent to fight in Iraq but that they are not old enough to buy a beer but on the other hand I did not want my 18 year olds to be able to purchase alcohol when they were that age but I think that is just a mother being protective of her young. I think that Kinky has some good ideas but he has no idea how to implement them and is just too far out there to be an effective leader and the fact that he has no political experience is a definite red flag for me. Neither DH or I will be voting for Kinky

Chris and I agree on almost everything under the son, from kids, to money management, to vacation, you name it and we are of the same opinion - except politics. I am more liberal in my ways of thinking and he is a serious conservative. We never argue about it though - we have some fun discussions at times. He is a straight ticket voter - only republican. I will pick out which candidate I like and do not vote straight ticket.
Now we do agree on amendments that are to be voted on.DD (19)

When DH & I were dating, and even before then, we were fond of rather loud political debates with each other. That was one of the main reasons our friends said we would never last as a couple... and it was 13+ years ago!

For a long time, we just basically cancelled out each other's votes. But as the years have gone by I've become a lot more conservative and a lot less politically active, and now we agree on a lot of candidates/ issues.

Depends. I'd say we agree around 70% of the time. I'm more conservative than DH. I refuse to identify myself as a Repub or Dem. I vote people and issues, not party. I share much with the Libertarian POV, but not enough to say I'm a Libertarian.

We cancel each others votes a lot. It's ok and expected. We agree on how to run our home and finances, if we agree on a canidate I usually figure he/she will not be elected!!

We mostly agree. With Dh being military (and just getting home from Iraq) he's a bit more outspoken on things dealing with that then I am sometimes though.

We completely agree. We still have passionate discussions about politics and government but we agree on candidates & issues. I have to say I think I get a little more "heated" than he does, though!
