    Default Ranch houses

There is probably a better place for this question, but has anyone ever had a ranch house that they added on to? Either building another floor or added out? We are considering doing this right now, but I'd like to hear from others who have done it.

We live in a ranch house that we converted the garage in....not exactly an add on per se' but we did add sq. footage. I love my ranch. I hope you find a plan that will work for you.

~48 yr. old sahw, livin' it up in our empty nest, smack dab in the middle of everywhere.~

We live in a ranch house now, but it is new. But we did live in a ranch house a long time ago and we also turned the garage into a family room. It really added to the price of the house when we sold it. People thought we were crazy for taking away the garage, but for us it was wasted space. We never used it for cars and it just collected junk. We also finished half of the basement for a master bedroom with a bath.

Not quite what you are looking for but it may give you some ideas. I could spend hours just looking at house plans and day dreaming. They have a ranch section for you to check out too. http://www.houseplans.com/index.asp

This is all good info because we are considering adding a family room onto our ranch house. DH has already been working on the basement. It has two bedrooms, used to be three but we took the third and opened it up for a larger family room. He has been doing wonders in my laundry area as well. Just the other day he built me two tables in there, one of them on wheels. But we have talked about adding on to the main floor to have a larger livingroom, which means we could make the kitchen larger.
