Default Has Anyone Ever Baked Potatoes In A Crockpot?

It's just the 2 of us now. I really hate to heat the oven just to bake potatoes. If you've ever done this could you please share how and for how long. Thanks!

You pretty much do the same thing to them as you do for the oven.

    Poke them with a fork.
    Wrap them in foil.
Cook them on low for 8-10 hours.

~I haven't done this but here's the 'recipe' that came up most often when I did a google search. Everyone is claiming it's from a Rival Crock-pot cookbook. Guess you'll have to try it and let us know how they turn out! http://www.recipesource.com/fgv/vege...potatoes1.html ~

I always bake mine in the crockpot, they turn out so much better than in the microwave. I just cook mine exactly like Heather does.

We are only two and we always bake the potatoes in the microwave. Poke them with a fork, microwave 10 minutes and your done.

I have to do so many at one time that I use the oven unless I'm short on time then I use the microwave. I have used the crockpot once for them and I don't remember how long or anything.

My Mom used to make a great recipe in the crockpot...she would put smoked sausage/sauerkraut on the bottom, (with just the slightes bit of water), and lay whole potatoes on top (cleaned and poked with a fork, of course), and it turned out great every time!!

I have a great way to fix potatoes in the microwave that I learned several years ago from my girlfriend. Wash and dry your potatoes, you can or not poke them with a fork (you don't have to), and then WRAP them in plastic wrap...it steams the potato and they turn out so yummy!

My husband doesn't like baked potatoes (yes, he's wierd). I just throw in the microwave...never thought about the crockpot. The only think is when I really haven't had one in a long time and am dying for one...I have to throw it in the oven, I love that crunchy skin.

I put in the crockpot with water. Put as many potatoes as you want them cover with water, like you're boiling the whole potato.

I cook them the way YankeeMom does. Poke them with a fork, wrap in foil and put in the crockpot for about 8 hours.

I put ours in the microwave. I poke them with a fork and microwave for 10 minutes. I then pop them in the toaster oven for 10 minutes at 400 degrees to crisp the skin up a bit.

You can cook 'em in the microwave too! Take the spud, stab it a bunch with a fork, toss it into the microwave for one minute, and cook. Turn it over and cook another minute. Repeat til it's cooked through!

I always put a sweet potato in the crockpot not wrapped, not cut up just scrubbed when I bake a chicken or any kind of roast and it tastes better than any other method of cooking. I take it out and slice it lenghtwise and put a little butter on it and also a little brown sugar. Yum! I haven't tried a whole white potato yet but it should work just as well.
