Default Lookout!! Mom's on a rampage!!

I have been a decluttering fool lately. I cut down the kids toys by 75%. then again by about half. THey still have more than I think they need but nothing junky anymore. I have gotten the computer/school/toy room pretty clean and clear. I can see floor and wall space. Feels great. And what does DH do?? He calls and says he was given a sectional sofa with a section that has a sleeper in it. ARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHhhhhhhhhh....

    I was soooo close!

Sigh. I haven't seen it yet, he's supposed to be bringing it home. He's pretty pleased at himself, so I won't burst his happy bubble. Gotta love the guy, he tries hard. But now I am back where I started.

Doesn't it feel AMAZING to get rid of kids toys?!?!?!? My mil is a HUGE shopper and I must put a bag of toys on freecycle every 6 weeks. I love the feeling of getting rid of a bunch of plastic STUFF that I'm always tripping over. Sorry if I sound like a big scrooge, but honest to goodness, how many toys do kids need?!?!?

Hope the sectional is wonderful and worth the space it takes up.

~Great job of decluttering!I'm trying to imagine how many toys you must have had before you purged. And I was proud of myself for cleaning out 3 small grocery bags of toys. My kids are still pretty little and don't have alot. I cut by 15%. After their birthdays I'll purge again. Oh, how's the couch?Nice?~

Thanks to everyone for all the ideas! I'm going through things room by room to see what I can get rid of. I have more toys here for my grandkids than my daughter has at her house. I can't think of anything there that needs to go, but we'll see.

WTG on the decluttering Missy! I hope that the sectional that your DH brings home is a really great one and then it won't be so bad having it.

You have done a wonderful job decluttering the toys! Maybe, after all, you will like the sectional and it won't be so bad.

The sectional turned out to be a miscommunication on his part, it's a sofa sleeper and a recliner. Seperate, not all in one. He was under the impression it was a sectional. Which is better space wise. It'll be here on Monday. The kids still have plenty of toys, but now a reasonable amount, what they play with now is what they like and is their target age range. Nothing geared towards kids younger than ds2, and all the mc d's toys are gone too. plus all the broken stuff. all the things that were passed over for others...gone...gone...gone! feels liberating to toss it. ANd the kids can actually get to what they want to play with now.
