clothing that you'll never part with??
Do any of you have clothing that you will never be able to get rid of because it has too many memories associated with it? Or am I the only freak here???? I just realized this when I was responding to someone else about a bath robe. I have a baby blue chenielle (sp?) robe that I will keep forever b/c both of my babies have always snuggled up to me while I was wearing it. Honest to goodness, I'll be 80 walking around in this threadbare robe!!!
I also have a baby blue cardigan (is it the color--or just b/c I have boys?)that I will never throw away. Both of my boys were adopted and I wore the sweater the day they came home. I've worn it many times since and it has so many stains it's pathetic. I have a blood stain on it--one of them must have had a bloody nose at some point. And some weird yellow stain--God only knows what that's from.
Just these two pieces, but I can't stand the thought of getting rid of them. Anybody else?Mom to two crazy boys

I have a black band sweatshirt from high school that's been washed so many times it's no longer black (more like gray), and the sleeves are in need of some mending (which I plan on doing but just never seem to get around to it!). It's past the point of wearing it in public, but it's still good for around the house!

I don't have any clothing that I have kept, but there are a few things that I wish I had kept.
My oldest daughter was a blanket baby and we somehow forgot her blankie once when we drove to Jacksonville, Fla. to visit my dad. She slept on the way there, but when we arrived she screamed for her blanket. My dad gave her one of his worn, soft, cotton T Shirts, and she loved it. Of course she had to bring it home with her, and it replaced her original blankie. She still has it, even though it is more worn and to keep it together, she has it knoted up and she keeps it under her pillow and says she can't sleep without it. She even takes it with her if she travels.

I will never ever part with my wedding dress.
I still have my volleyball tshirt from high school and some of my army pt shirts. I have a few outfits that I love, but I don't know if I won't part with them.
However, I have a ton of ds's clothes that I am sentimental about.McD

I still have an old Chicago Bulls sweatshirt my husband was wearing the night we met. I can't imagine getting rid of it.

My husband is the clothing hoarder. He was in football and wrestling all through high school. So he has lots of sports t-shirts. I wouldn't mind- except they all have sweat stains and he never wears them. Since we married 3 years ago I've been able to convince him to throw out the really gross ones and keep a few that he really likes.

My wedding dress.
I also have two maternity shirts that were sewn for me by my beloved Grandma. They are bright prints that I never wore in public... but they're the last things she made for me before she died, and they're very much HER, as far as taste in fabric (bright patterns, soft knits) and style. I still have them & just can't bear to give them away. I think I'll make them into pillows for the car someday.Last edited by AmyMCGS; 11-19-2006 at 11:32 AM.

My wedding dress. I also still have some sweatshirts and pants from highschool that show our school logo and our grad year. I still wear them sometimes but they're not really appropriate for public wear.
DH still has a drawer full of shirts from his old baseball teams and bowling teams. If I even suggest getting rid of them, he freaks out, so I doubt we'll ever be parting with those.personal loan 900/15000

I have a black satin Stone Pony jacket from the club in Asbury Park that the original owners of the club gave me, it's in storage, And has not fit since 1991, but it is still mine. I also have a big box of concert shirts, mostly local bands and real early Bon Jovi, that I have cut apart to turn into a quilt, that was about 9 years ago, but they are also safely boxed for when I someday have the time.
There is nothing I actually wear that I won't part with.

LOL, I've been thinking about this since I last posted, and I don't think I will ever get rid of the thick, soft flannel pj's I got on sale for $6 last year at Walmart. LOL, they are pure heaven!

I have a pearl gray suit size 4 that I purchased in 1982. I paid over 100.00 for that. I wore that suit to my first "real" job interview. It still hangs in the closet of my old room at my mothers house, I wont let her throw that away. Hey maybe I could sell it. Are 80"s clothes considered retro now????
I also have a pair of ancient cut off jean shorts. The jeans were my favorite that are so worn out, that the waistband is not coming off. They have to be 20 years old. I can still fit in them. I also have an old ski sweater that was my father's from the 1960's. I wear it when it is extremely cold. My dh cant believe I wont give that up.

I'll never get rid of my wedding dress. I had a few favorite items from high school that I finally managed to pass on to my younger sister. I have a dress that I wore on my first date with Philip that I want to do something with, alter or just save some of the fabric.
And the list of baby clothes that I can't imagine parting with is too long to list here.
