Good luck and have fun!
“When you get to the end of all the light you know
and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
you will be given something solid to stand on,
or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller
“Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
there are signs that the world is speedily
coming to an end;
bribery and corruption are common; children no
longer obey their parents;
every man wants to write a book and the
end of the world is evidently approaching.”
— From a translation of an inscription on
an Assyrian clay tablet, circa 2800 B.C.E.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

Oh no, how horrible for you! Were these people "friends" of yours that were suppose to come?
Well, maybe we'll get a new Village member out of the deal instead!! LOL

Oh Missy, I'm so sorry. Same thing happened to me once with a Tupperware party. I was in tears
But, I went out the next day and sold stuff to the neighbors and actually did better than I would have if my invited guests would have come. Maybe you could try that.

I've had three people show up when twelve were supposed to come. It was both annoying and embarassing.
Hope you still got some deals on toys!

thanks everyone. It's not so bad this morning. I'll try it again another time with another product. Maybe Tupperware next.
One of my friends had a really good excuse. She'd set her bathroom on fire. I heard the sirens. She lives real close, so i forgive her...this time. LOL. Another had company show up, so i understand that. The others I dunno. Somethings must have come up.~~ Missy ~~

Sending hugs your way. I agree with Katy, if we were closer, we would have been there!

It sucks that nobody showed up...and I don't think it works in their favour that they didn't even call.
I have just a random question though (sorry about the threadjack). You mentioned that one of the people didn't come because company showed up. Am I the only person who wouldn't cancel plans if people showed up at my door unexpectedly? I mean, ok, I cancelled plans once when a friend appeared at my doorstep in her pj's but her house had just burnt down. Normally though, I apologize with something similar to the following "I'm so sorry, I wasn't expecting anyone and I was just on my way out as another friend is expecting me. Is there another time that's convenient for us to meet up?" and leave. I find it incredibly rude when people just do not show up for "social engagements". I know there's nothing wrong with "just stopping by", but if the person has prior commitments the visitors have to be understanding about that.
Sorry about that. If we were in the same area I totally would've been there (I don't have kids but I have plenty of young cousins!!). Better luck next time!
Edited to add: Just a thought, when I hold these parties, regardless of the RSVP count I tend to "overbook" them because I find that 1 or 2 people neglect to show up. That way, the rep isn't stuck presenting to three people.Last edited by frugal.lass; 11-21-2006 at 04:07 PM.
