Smile Tons of de-cluttering done and more to go...

Ok so today I go downstairs to do some decluttering, and I am realizing I am going crazy trying to get rid of stuff, I mean since we've been remodeling the kitchen everything that was in the kitchen and dining room are now in the living room (what a mess), well today I did tons of decluttering and got rid of 3 garbage bags full of knick knacks, etc and gave them to the thrift shop.

I also had boxes of stuff left over from my yard sale a few months ago, most were clothes and books but I have 3 more garbage bags full of stuff to give to the thrift shop! My living room is getting there (I mean thank goodness for boxes to store stuff).

I want to have the living room in decent shape since we want to put up the xmas tree on Thanksgiving, and even though we have our dining room table and chairs in there it looks good (our living room is pretty big).

I just have a few boxes of stuff to put downstairs in the basement and then I need to sweep and mops the hardwood floor in the LR and I will be finished.

YAY! You never really know how much stuff ya have till you start going through it all, I am glad to have it G O N E!

Good for you. I love the feeling of a major purge. We live in a ranch and it really makes a difference when we declutter.

I did the burge about a week ago. I'm not much of a keeper to begin with, but I was amazed at how much junk I had laying around just taking up space. WTG !! wow doesn't it feel great?

Way to go, Tracy. I've got my kitchen and living room decluttered and am working on the bedrooms now. I think it is so liberating to get rid of stuff!!

I could use a good purge right now. It's funny how much cleaner your house looks when you don't have knick knacks and other strange things that just dont have a place laying on all of your shelves, on top of bookcases, on dressers, etc. It will feel so liberating to have all of that stuff gone!

That must feel great!!!!!! I need to do a major purge at home myself......problem is I've already purged "my" stuff to pretty minimal....the stuff that needs to go in large quanities is being held onto for dear life and I don't have the umph right now to wage the war. (After the new year the males in the house may end up being a united front but I hope to win at least some small battles)

It is such a great feeling to get rid of items. I have done really really good this year at getting rid of things. I have a box in the familyroom that I add things to and once it gets full it goes to the basement to the big garage sale tote and I have one in my closet to. It is great to get rid of the items. Also what doesn't sell at the sale goes to goodwill and it is a great feeling.

I have about 12 empty totes in the basement from things that I have gotten rid of and that is great. I have got all my Christmas things and other holiday deocr gone thru and just kept what I put out and love.

I have a saying that if we haven't used it, worn it or gotten it out in 6 months we are not going to use it in the near future. So out it goes. It is a great feeling and now you can see what it in the drawers, closets and other areas to.

We moved 6 times in 3 years so I learned quick to get rid of things. We had to rent a storage unit and most likely 50% or more we didn't even keep on the next move. Go figure but it is great to get rid of things.

    Keep up the good work!!

Good job. I hate the decluttering process, but do love how the house is when it's over!

My gosh ladies, I SOOOOOO NEED MOTIVATION with decluttering. I have 3 areas to go and I just cant seem to get to them. Areas are - clutter desk behind me (comp desk is tidy though!), workout area is now storage dumping ground so I cant even get to my workout equipment and lastly the clothes mound in the bedroom - I DID get rid of the couch and half of the pile got washed and put away or given away.

I just cant get motivated for the last few steps ..... HELP!!!!

Here's my decluttering update: Since the last time I had 3 more bags of clothes and stuff for the thrift store drop boxes YAY!

I also totally cleaned my living room (which at one time held boxes of stuff since we are remodeling the kitchen) now everything is neatly stored in other areas so our living room is totally awesome and I will post a picture in my next post. I am sooooo happy and proud! WOO HOO! This is a major accomplishment for me and everyone in the house noticed such a major difference, my daughter and I also decorated with xmas stuff and it looks so cozy and comfy, yay!

Shorty - I can help, lately I am in a clean clean clean mode, I even cleaned the downstairs it looks so neat and tidy!
