    Default Mrs Fixit

Well about a month or so ago my dishwasher tore up. My dh doesn't know anything about it, he looked at it but that was about the extint of it. He had his uncle come over and look at it and he said it needed a water valve replaced. So today, two days later I call and check on the part and it is like $40 and I asked him if these things go out often and he said hardly ever. The dishwasher is just a little over a year old. So that got me thinking maybe his uncle really didn't know what he was talking about. He said that it sounded like a stopped up screen. He would come out and check it out for $40 but it would be atleast a week, so I told him I would get back to him. Well since nobody knew anything about it I decided that I knew as much as they did so I decided to turn the water off and have a go at it. I unscrewed some stuff and took some stuff apart and put it back together. Never seen a screen anywhere. I Put it back together and push the button and by some miracle I had fixed it!!!!! My dh couldn't belive it, he said "I'm never going to hear the end of this one am I". Probally not for a while. I'm just thrilled I have my dishwasher back!!!!!!!

    woohooo!!
i love being able to do little stuff around the house. normally id ask my dad to come over and fix odds and ends but im pretty sure dh doesnt like it and would rather i use the apartment maint. people.. but ive already asked them to work on so much stuff.. that i really feel like i bother them now whenever i request something. but lately ive been just working on stuff on my own and its a GREAT feeling knowing that if i want to... i can learn a little something on the way and figure things out at the same time.

    nice work!

~Cool! I'd have done the same thing! I don't want to even imagine life without my dishwasher... My DH isn't Mr Fix-It either, unless it's gluing. And he builds machines for a living. In your situation, my DH would have looked at the dishwasher and asked me how to fix it. Well if I knew I'd do it myself, lol!~
