Default Anyone else doing NOTHING today?

Boy it feels strange. DH and I will be spending the day alone except for a breif visit for a couple of hours this afternoon from MIL. DH is on Nutrisystem, so no turkey and trimmings here. My family is spead out all over so it's difficult to get together. DH only has his mom (who will be coming over for a few hours) and a brother who lives about 15 minutes away, but he is also on Nutrisystem and his wife will also be working all day. She's a critical care nurse at an area hosptial.

I'm not feeling depressed, just feel like I should be cooking and baking....lol

Going to sil's brothers house (multiple marriges on hubby's side so it gets real confusing) late in the afternoon so we're not doing "nothing" but I agree it feels weird to not be cooking since I usually do the bulk of it. I plan on taking some time to myself later and thinking about all the specifics of my family that I'm thankful for. sommetimes in day to day life I get caught up in what they do that makes me crazy and i stew over it....so today I will consiously (sp) "stew" over what I love about them.

It is a "different" Thanksgiving here also. Last couple of years with kids leaving home, marriages and divorce and such the numbers have dwindled. DD that is near us is an RN in the ED and CCU at a large hospital and works most holidays. We had our big family dinner yesterday so she could be here.

I'm going to drag out the Christmas decorations and get busy!! The weather here is nasty! Rain, wind and cold! Later this evening we will go play games with my sisters family.

No matter how you are celebrating your Thanksgiving, have a wonderful day! (I had coconut cream pie for breakfast!! Best part of Thanksgiving!!)

I still cooked a Thanksgiving dinner minus a few things as it was only us.
We usually either go to family's house or they come here but this year we were left alone!!

I'm ok with it though, it was sort of a quiet & relaxing day.

It was completely weird! Even as a little kid I always helped with the cooking and for the past 5 years since Momma became disabled I've done all the holiday cooking. This year Momma had been invited to go to TN for Thanksgiving and a week-long vacation by a relative, which I know has her tickled pink. (She usually only goes "out" to the doctor's office no matter how much DH and I beg and make plans for her) So Momma was in TN, DH's Daddy died Wed. night, so he's in Benton LA, I couldn't go because their was no one to take care of 2 households of pets for a week.

Know what I did? I had beef and bean burritos drowning in Tabasco sauce and a Rolling Rock beer. Never in a blue million years would I serve that to anyone and call it a meal, but that is what I wanted and no-one this week is the boss of me! I know that sounds so childish, but I actually enjoyed it. I also did absolutely nothing of any redeeming or social value at all today (except feed all the critters)

I had a nice surprise with my brother and his wife visiting for a few hours on their way to Oklahoma. It was supposed to be a quiet day, and the day turned into a nice surprise. My thanksgiving with my kids and their families is on Saturday. I do this so I can have the whole day with them and they don't have to go anywhere else..kinda selfish...but I am the Queen....hehehehehe..

Even though it's just hubby and me, I still cooked the traditional meal. Hubby slept most of the day in his recliner ...I had to wake him up to eat and then he fell back asleep about 30 min. after dinner. After cleaning up the dishes, I dug out the christmas candles and a couple tiny little christmas trees and redecorated the living room. I had a nice relaxing, un-stressed day and enjoyed every minute of it.

We went to my inlaw's new house. It was the first holiday there. It seems odd after spending all the holidays at their old house since 1982!

We watched "Cars" (I loved it!) and played Yahtzee. There was NO football in sight. Thank goodness; I hate the stuff! BIL wasn't there, no NO games on ALL day (yippeeeee!).
