Question about Freecycle
Don't know if anyone can help me answer this question but here we go.
I had put a "Wanted" add on my local freecycle group for a specific item. I just got a email back from someone asking me how much I wanted to spend for this item. I think this is an odd question. I always thought that freecycle meant that someone would "give" you an item without asking for $$$. Am I right or crazy????Kellie

Well FREECYCLE is just that FREE, if you posted a wanted ad on FREECYCLE what I would do is email this person back and explain that freecycle is meant to find items for free, that is wrong of them to contact you asking about spending money.
I hope this helps!

Dito on what Frugalmomof3 said. Plus you might want to let your moderator know that someone is fishing for sales.

I would notify the moderator...but before you do, make sure you read the rules for your local group. On ours you are not allowed to ask for things until you've contributed at least one item. At that point, you're allowed to ask for something once a month.

Yes, it is supposed to be free!
They can be banned for asking for money I think.
I would report them.

and if someone hasn't offered to pay for it you can't demand payment.~~ Missy ~~

I forgot to mention, I was a moderator on the freecycle here in my area and if a member emails you asking about money or the such you should notify a moderator as this is against the rules of FreeCycle.

I am the moderator/owner of our local freecycle and it is not proper to EVER ask for money. I would definitely want to know if this happened and the person would be warned or banned. I would want the improper response forwarded to me, also...I would probably post a reminder notice of the rules of freecycle.

Ditto what everyone else said, contact the moderator. Freecycle is about exchanging items free. If you wanted to buy you would check eBay and the classifieds right?

I've been curious about FC. Perhaps I should give it a try before taking all of DS's outgrown clothes to Goodwill.
