Hello one and all!
Hello all
, I’m a gourd artist in the sunny south. I am so glad that I found this site. There is so much useful information here it’s going to take a while to get through all of it. A couple of people I know have just started a free magazine about small town living. It’s got similar things in it. They’ve got two issues out at www .stliving.net. Does anyone else here do gourd art?

Welcome to the Village!
Just this evening we were visiting a smal gallery w/ art & crafts. One display has baskets & gourd art. the pieces I really like are the gourds with baskets worked on top of them. I'm hoping to be able to get a class, I love gourd art & have a bunch drying that I grew last summer for that purpose.
thanks for the link to the small town magazine.
You're going to like it here at the village!

Hi and welcome to the Village. I used to grow gourds, dry them and make painted bird houses out of them to sell. I loved it but I didn't have the space to grow more gourds when we moved. I'm living on 5 acres again now and was thinking I would grow more gourds this summer.
Where in the sunny south do you live? I'm on the Georgia coast.
Can't wait to take a look at the magazine link. Thanks!

Wow!
Thank you everyone for such a warm welcome!
Someone asked"Where in the sunny south do you live?"
Well, my answer to that is :
Florida, hot in summer (80s-100),cold(ish) in winter(it does reach the 30s and 40s here sometimes folks), and just right in spring and fall. haha.
Now I'm gonna take a few minutes to check out the...hehe...hobby section.
