Need Advice
I need your opinions on what would be an appropriate thank you for someone who has been doing work outside of my home. I have a very dear friend and he worked all day today trimming my trees, trimming my ivy and various other things. He said he is coming back tomorrow to do more work. I didn't ask him to do this, he just came on his own. He said he wanted to help me around the house to get some things done.
There is no way he would accept money from me. He works full time and is doing this on his days off. I don't know what would be appropriate to show him my appreciation. I don't want to invite him to a home-cooked dinner, because I don't want him to think I am interested in him other than as a good friend.
I would appreciate any ideas.

What about a nice gift basket with cookies, and other homemade treats. That would be nice gift to let him know that you appreciate his hard work but it would not look like you are interested in anything other than friendship.

Maybe a gift card from Home Depot inside a holiday card saying how much you appreciate his friendship and help.

If he's a single guy I would say a gift basket of home made goodies, maybe tuck in a gift card to a local take out place or something like that. If he is that sweet that he is spending his days off helping you out like this, maybe do the home cooked meal--you could do worse you know!

I would be happy with a fresh baked apple pie.
Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance.

I would think a basket full of home made goodies would be very much appreciated by a single guy.

You could offer to do some housework, laundry, cooking for him in exchange, a trade of services if you will.

Thanks for the ideas. They are all great. I think I'll make him some goodies as he is single. I will also get the gift card. That is a great idea. I will also offer to help him with his house chores.
He is a very nice person, just not interested in a relationship. Not ready yet. He is here now working away!!
