Default How do you save money on ink for printers

I just got ink not to long ago and I am out!!! It is going to cost me 19.00 for black and 21.00 for colar. I tried to use the 12.00 filler for the black but it did not work.
    so any ideas?

I used to use a refill kit where I shot ink into the cartridge with a big needle. I always had to fiddle with it afterwards to get it to work again. I know a lot of people that get them refilled at a special store that recycles cartridges, maybe you can see if there is one near you (I usually see them in malls).

I just don't print anything now unless I absolutely have no choice.

Ink for my old printer cost me around $63 for the two cartridges. My new printer uses only one and it's $20 at Circuit City. Like monkeywrangler, I don't use my printer unless I have to. I also added printer ink to my wish list for Christmas, LOL.

We bought a black & white laser printer because ink just costs too much. We don't use color and this has saved us so much money & hassle. We've had the printer over 5 years and only replaced the toner once. This was with 2 hs/college kids using it to print all their stuff.
Seems these cartriges usually cost more than the printer itself did.

I refill 5 times, then recycle the cartridge. Printing isn't cheap no matter how you slice it. I find, for the refillers, that if you wipe off the head of the cartridge with alcohol that it works just fine. I think that the refill ink just gums up a bit faster.

~I have an Epson 880 that's five years old. I've always bought my cartridges on Ebay. They've gone from $10 to now $2.50 each. Printing is a bargain for me. I print photos and t-shirt transfers too with great results. I just read that Walgreens will refill cartridges. You can look it up on their site to see if your local store offers this service.~
