    Default Extreme Makeover

I reall liked the show at first when they fixed up that lady's house. Then they started building all new houses and a lot of the houses looked like they could be made over. Now this year 2 of the families they picked upset me a little. A few weeks ago they built a new home for a family who didn't have fire insurance when their house burned down. Then last week the Dad died, but when you saw the family, half the kids looked old enough to get jobs (not at the mothers catering business) to help out. Am I being too cynacal here?

I had to stop watching that show, because it pulled on my heart strings too much. I started to hate the fact that they were doing it on purpose.

I havent seen an episode since last year, but people at work watch it all the time. They are always saying that it's getting ridiculous, because a lot of the families that they help out now don't really seem to need help. While I personally think its wonderful to help out a family in need, I think that I get turned off sometimes by the way they go so overboard. They will tear down a house that so many families in need would be so grateful to live in to build a dream home for the family...and that's where it gets me.

I agree! I used to love watching the show. I would be amazed at how they would help these families and by end of the show I would have tears in my eyes. But, the last few I saw, which was probably last year, it just wasn't the same. Yes, they're tearing down houses that don't need to be torn down and rebuilding a "dream" home when they could have just redid or maybe add an addition.

~I've only seen one episode and it was very heartwarming. The dad had died(I think in the war) and they just remodeled. They redid the front of the house to improve the look and added a room upstairs. And they redecorated all the rooms. It was extreme but not unnessessarily grand. I think because alot of us are working so hard to save for our dream homes it seems unfair that more 'undeserving' folks are getting there ahead of us. But we'll have the last laugh, because we'll truly appreciate the result of our work; we'll be proud of ourselves because we earned it!~
