Does anyone else sponsor a child?
My husband and I have been sponsoring a little boy from Indonesia for the last year and a half through Compassion International. I know that World Vision is another big program as well. Does anyone else sponsor a child, and if so where do they live and how long have you been sponsoring him/her?

This year we bought 2 of our gifts for people from the world vision catalog and we decided that next xmas for the kids we are adopting an animal from the world wildlife federation for their gift. We are going to sponsor a child through world vision starting in January.

We have been sponsoring a boy in Thailand for a couple of years now. He´s the same age as our DD (13). The organization is PLAN, which is international and very popular here in Finland.

We sponsored a boy through World Vision for about a year until he moved away from the village and the programme. Since then we have bought various 'gifts' for Christmas and birthdays for family and friends, also through World Vision.

What a nice idea! The adoption agency we used (Wide Horizons for Children) now have children that families can sponsor.

We sponsor a boy from the Phillipines, and I too used World Visions gift catalog this year. Too many grandparents and older relatives, who don't NEED another dust collector or box of candy. I put all the money I'd have spent on them into one pot, and purchased school supplies for needy American children. Everyone was thrilled and didn't miss their chotchke one bit!

We've sponsered a child in Brazil through World Vision for about 8 years. They just finished their project in that community and we are trying to get out of the program - so far not very successfully. I'm so tired of them wasting money sending me junk in the mail when it could be better spent elsewhere. We've chosen another organization that we want to support, but we're finding it difficult to get World Vision to stop taking our money.
